Aiden Summers shot a 73 at the SCA Conference Golf Tournament Thursday at Houston taking first overall  as the Salem Tigers tied for 2nd Place in the conference with Willow Springs shooting a 342. The Ava Bears won the SCA Conference Tournament shooting a 338. Summers was named to the All SCA Conference First Team with Daniel Black being named to the All SCA Conference 2nd Team shooting an 83, while Ben Owen was named to the All-SCA Conference  Honorable Mention Team shooting a 90. Also in the tournament for Salem, Brasyn Hampton shot a 96 and Walker Smith shot a 104. Congratulations to Aiden and the Salem golf team who will play in the Willow Springs Open today.

The Salem Tigers’ Baseball Classic was held this past weekend and was won by the Pacific Indians as they beat Licking in the Championship game Saturday, 8-6. Waynesville took 3rd place with a  convincing win over Mountain Grove, 16-1; and Cuba took 5th Place as they banged out 22 hits in beating Salem, 18-1. Salem lost all three games in the tournament, losing 7-0 to Licking Friday morning as the Tigers were no-hit by sophomore Logan Buckner who pitched six innings striking out 11 Salem hitters. Buckner also had a homer and two RBI in the game and Jason Ingram finished with three hits for the Wildcats. Salem then fell to Waynesville Friday afternoon, 17-9. Sylis Dubois had two hits including a triple and three RBI for Salem while Dannon Berry had a hit and two RBI in that contest. In the 5th place game, Salem had only three hits with Dubois getting two of those. The Tigers fall to 5-12 on the year. They will host West Plains today starting at 4:30 at the Salem High School Baseball Field Complex. The game will be broadcast on KSMO Radio and video streamed on KSMO Media starting at 4:15 with Tiger Talk and Coach Tony Edwards.

The Salem Lady Softball Tigers blasted the Kingston Lady Cougars Friday, 16-0, to improve to 14-7 on the year.

The SCA Conference Track Meet for boys and girls will be held at Mountain Grove today starting at 1:30.

NEW UPDATE – The Salem Tennis Tigers team District play begins today with Salem taking on Houston at 11:00 this morning at the Salem City Park. The winner will play against the winner of the Logan-Rogersville and Mountain Grove match on Tuesday.

The St. Louis Cardinals and the Los Angeles Dodgers, finished up their three game series over the weekend. On Friday the Cardinals never trailed, and defeated the Dodgers 7-2. Saturday’s game was much closer, but a two-run home run by Jordan Walker was the deciding score for a  3-2 win. Yesterday afternoon LA had a small measure of revenge and avoided the sweep with a 4-1 victory. The Milwaukee Brewers are in St. Louis today to face the Red Birds. KSMO Radio will have this game on a broadcast delay to follow Salem Tigers Baseball. If the Tigers game is canceled due to weather, KSMO will carry the Cardinals game live with pregame coverage starting at 5:50 this evening.
