Kinsey Barton’s last second three-pointer fell just short as the Bunker Lady Eagles fell to the Delta Lady Bobcats Friday night in a heartbreaker, 47-46. Barton led the Eagles in scoring with 23 points and ten rebounds followed by Keira Turnbough with 13. Delta, who trailed by ten points at halftime, rallied in the 3rd quarter on the strength of three consecutive 3-pointers by Cheyenne Welker as the Lady Bobcats outscored Bunker in the 3rd quarter, 18-9. Freshman Lily McDonough led the Lady Bobcats with 19 points including two 4th quarter free throws with under a minute left that proved to be the difference. The Lady Eagles finish the season with a 24-4 record. Delta will play Chadwick in the sectional matchup tonight at Van Buren.
Brennen Maloy scored 37 points to lead the Bunker Eagles to a dominating 94-47 win over the Couch Indians in the Class 1, District 3 Championship Saturday afternoon at Bunker. Chetan Calzado netted 23 points while Braydon Radford added 13 more for the Eagles who scored points on 14 of their 16 steals in the game. Dylan Larson hit seven 3-pointers for the Indians to lead them with 21 points. The Eagles improve to 26-2 and they will play at Cabool Tuesday night in the Sectional game against the Billings Wildcats who are 24-5 on the year. Game time is 6:00 and the game will be carried on KSMO Media and video streamed on MSHSAA.TV starting with Eagle Insights and Coach Rod Gorman. The cost of admission is $10 per person, six years of age and older.
The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers will be at Cuba tonight to face the Sullivan Lady Eagles starting at 7:00 in the Class 4, District 3 Tournament. Salem enters the game with a 9-16 record while Sullivan is 16-9 on the year. Game time is 7:00 and the contest will be carried live on KSMO Radio as well as audio streamed on KSMO Media. The game will be video streamed on MSHSAA.TV starting with Tiger Talk and Coach Cody Woody around 6:50. The winner of this game will play Wednesday night in the District semi-final at 7:00. The cost of admission is $6.00 per person, six years of age and older.
Five Tigers scored in double figures as Missouri outscored Mississippi State in the first half, 54-23, and cruised to an 88-64 win for their 20th win of the year. Mark Mitchell scored 17 points followed by Shawn Phillips with 16 more as the Tigers go to 10-6 in the SEC Conference. They will be at Oklahoma Tuesday evening at 5:30 and that game will be on KSMO Radio.
With just 3:39 left to go in the game Pavel Buchnevich broke a 1 to 1 tie with his deciding goal to defeat the Minnesota Wild last night. Robert Thomas added an empty net goal to have St. Louis finished with a 3-1 victory. The Blues will be in Seattle tomorrow to face the Kraken.
