The St. Louis Cardinals and Cincinnati Reds finished their three game series over the weekend. On Friday, a Cardinal five run seventh inning gave St. Louis a 6-1 victory. On Saturday, Alec Burleson hit a two run home run to put the Cards on top early. The Reds rallied back and took a two run lead in the seventh. Later, Nolan Arenado forced extra innings by hitting a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth. In the eleventh Yohel Pozo hit a single allowing Nolan Arenado to score and claim a 6-5 win. Yesterday afternoon the Reds would notch a win of their own as they held the Cards to one run on three hits while scoring four runs off six hits. The Cardinals are hosting the Chicago Cubs tonight, live on KSMO Radio 1340 AM & 95.7 FM with pregame coverage beginning at 5:50 and first pitch at 6:45.
The Kansas City Royals and Padres faced off in San Diego finishing up a three game series. First on Friday, home runs from Jonathan India and Bobby Witt Jr propelled the Royals to a 6-5 win. On Saturday, the Padres evened up the series with a 5-1 victory. Yesterday’s game was a close one. Salvador Perez hit a two run home run in the sixth but the Padres tied the game up in the following inning. The score would remain until the bottom of the ninth as Jose Iglesias batted in the winning run for a 3-2 final.
