The Salem Lady Softball Tigers were well represented on the All-SCA Conference, All-District and All-Region teams. Named to the All-SCA Conference 2nd Team were pitcher Alaina Norris, infielder Alexis White and utility player Maddie Mercer. In addition, outfielder Josie Bowers and infielder Shaylee Thomas were named to the All-SCA Conference Honorable Mention Team. Named to the Class 2, District 3 All-District First Team were pitcher Alaina Norris, infielder Alexis White, outfielder Josie Bowers and infielder Shaylee Thomas. Named to All-District 2nd Team were outfielder Raven Gillam, utility player Maddie Mercer and infielder Jaelyn Chartier. Four Lady Tigers were also named to the All-Region teams. Pitcher Alaina Norris was honored by being named to the All-Region First Team while infielders Alexis White and Shaylee Thomas as well as outfielder Josie Bowers were recognized on the All-Region 2nd Team. Congratulations to these and all the Lady Tigers on their outstanding season!

The St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs renewed their rivalry and wrapped up their first series over the weekend. Game one on Friday started with six combined runs early in the first. Ivan Herrera, Nelson Velazquez and Thomas Saggese each hit a homer during the game contributing to the Cards’ close 6-5 victory. On Saturday, a lonely Alec Burleson RBI in the fourth kept the Cardinals from being shutout and the Cubs evened up the series with a 6-1 win. Last night the Red Birds had no such problems scoring from the day prior, bringing in five runs to win the series, 2-1 on a 5-1 game three final. The Cardinals will remain at home tonight as they’ll host the Texas Rangers live on KSMO Radio, 1340 AM & 95.7 FM, with pregame coverage starting at 5:50 and first pitch at 6:45.
