Kyle Hendricks struck out eight over seven sharp innings, Ben Zobrist had four hits and the Chicago Cubs beat the St. Louis Cardinals 5-2 on Sunday night to salvage the finale of their weekend series. The Cardinals open a four game series with Colorado tonight starting at 6:15 on KSMO.

The St. Louis Cardinals announced Friday a number of roster moves. St Louis sent right-handed pitcher Sam Tuivailala to the Mariners in exchange for minor league right-handed pitcher Seth Elledge who was assigned to Springfield (AA). The Cards also designated left-handed pitcher Tyler Lyons and right handed pitcher Greg Holland for assignment, recalled lefthanded pitcher Tyler Webb and right handed pitcher Daniel Poncedeleon from Memphis, and placed left-handed pitcher Brett Cecil on 10-day disabled list. Then on Saturday, the Cardinals sent first basemen Luke Vogt to the New York Yankees for left-handed reliever Chasen Shreve and right-handed reliever Giovanny Gallegos.

J.A. Happ pitched one-run ball over six innings to win his New York Yankees debut, 6-3 over Kansas City Sunday. Hunter Dozier and Rosell Herrera homered and it was Herrera’s first home run of his big league career. Danny Duffy will be on the mound as Kansas City opens a series with the Chicago White Sox tonight.

The Kansas City Royals have traded away a popular long-time player in Mike Moustakas Friday to the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for two young players in Brett Phillips and Jorge Lopez. Phillips, who was one of the top Brewer prospects, will join the major league team while Lopez will be sent to AAA.
