The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers won the Stover Tournament Saturday night by beating the Stover Bulldogs Saturday night, 54-42. The Bulldogs are coached by former Salem Lady Tiger Basketball Coach Jake Reardon. With the win, Salem is now 8-8 on the year and will host the Cabool Bulldogs in SCA Conference play tonight at the Salem High school Gym. The JV game will be a two-quarter game. After Salem won the Stover Tournament Saturday night, Ashton Bowers was named the MVP of the tournament while Savannah Manthey and Avery Erway were names to the All-Tournament team. Congratulations ladies on a great effort!!

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers and the Eldon Mustangs battled Friday night in a tight game for three quarters before Eldon’s Devon Wardenburg scored 16 of the Mustangs 25 points in the 4th quarter to lead them to a 79-64 win. Trethan Rictor led Salem with 23 points followed by Gunnar Konkel with 15 and Bryson May with 12 points. Salem will be off until Friday when they host Houston in their first SCA Conference game. Salem is 4-10 on the year.

The bracket has been set for the St. James Tournament and Salem will face Fatima Tuesday night, January 17th at 6:00. The winner will play Friday night at 6:30 and loser will play at 6:00 Thursday night.

Montreal scored three 3rd period goals to come back and beat St. Louis Saturday, 5-4. Brandon Saad, Alexey Torpochenko, Nikkita Alexandrov and Pavel Buchnevich all scored for the Blues, Then Sunday night, Thomas Greiss stopped 36 shots including 24 in the 3rd period as the Blues shutout the Minnesota Wild, 3-0. Brayden Schenn had two goals and Bandon Saad also scored for the Blues who went 3-1 on the four-game road trip for six out of eight points. The Blues will play Calgary Tuesday and Thursday nights starting at 6:30 each evening and you can hear both game son KSMO Radio.

The Missouri Basketball Tigers and the Commodores of Vanderbilt went down to the wire with the Missouri Tigers prevailing at the end, 85-82. Kobe Brown and DeAndre Gholston each scored 18 points followed by D’Moi Hodge with 17 and Noah Carter with 16 points. The Tigers are now 13-2 on the year & 2-1 in the SEC Conference. The Tigers will be at College Station Wednesday night to face the Texas A&M Aggies starting at 7:00.

Kansas City ran for three touchdowns and Patrick Mahomes threw for another as they beat the Las Vegas Raiders Saturday, 31-13 to clinch the #1 seed in the AFC Conference. The Chiefs finish 14-3 on the year and will receive a bye in the 1st round of the playoffs and their first game will be again the lowest seed who wins next weekend.
