The Salem Lady Tigers traveled to Ava to face the Lady Bears in an SCA contest on Thursday night and took control of the game in the second half on the defensive end, surrendering just five field goals in the second half en route to a 61-44 victory. Taylor Norris scored 25 points to lead the Tigers followed by Michaela Chilton who netted 12 more. Salem is now 12-9 on the year and 3-2 in the SCA Conference. They will be at Cuba tonight to face the Lady Wildcats with the JV game at 6:00 with the varsity game at 7:15.

Andrew Holden scored 25 points and pulled down 13 rebounds to lead the Mountain View-Liberty Eagles past the Salem Tigers Friday night by the score of 79-44. Holden hit five 3- pointers inn the game as the Eagles hit 11 3-pointers in the game and hade five players in double figures. Jordan Shults scored 15 points for Salem followed by Reese Dodson netted 11 and Carter Chilton added 10 more. Salem falls to 5-14 on the year and 0-2 in the SCA Conference. They will host Mountain Grove Tuesday night at the SHS gym.

Jeremiah Tilmon scored 19 points and Missouri fended off a second-half comeback attempt to defeat Vanderbilt, 77-67 Saturday night. Missouri set the tone on offense in the first half, shooting 48.4 percent from the field. They are now 11-9 on the year and 2-6 in the SEC Conference. The Tigers will visit No. 1 Tennessee Tuesday night. KSMO will join that game in progress after Salem Basketball.

Vladimir Tarasenko had a goal and two assists, and the St. Louis Blues beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-2 on Saturday night. Ryan O’Reilly added a goal and an assist, Oskar Sundqvist also scored and Brayden Schenn had three assists for St. Louis who played its first game in 10 days due to the All-Star game and the team’s bye week. Rookie Jordan Binnington took a shutout into the third period, finishing with 18 saves to improve to 6-1-1. The Blues are now over the .500 mark on the year standing at 23-22-5. They will be at Florida Tuesday night. That game will not be carried due to Salem Boys Basketball and Missouri Basketball.

The New England Patriots’ Tom Brady scored his 6th Super Bowl Championship with a 13-3 win over the Los Angeles Rams. The only touchdown was a Sony Michel 2-yard touchdown run. New England also got 41-yard and 42-yard field goals from Stephen Gostkowski. Coach Bill Belichick also recorded his sixth Super Bowl coaching win in his 44th season as a coach.
