The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers lost to St. Pius X (Festus) Friday in the Consolation Final of the People’s Bank Holiday Classic in Sullivan, 57-52. Ashton Bowers was named to the All-Tournament team for Salem. The Lady Tigers are 2-5 and will be at Steelville tonight at 6:00 with the JV game with the varsity game to follow.
The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers gave the Camdenton Lakers all they could handle Friday night leading at halftime, 33-29, but Salem got outscored in the 3rd quarter, 22-9 and fell to the Lakers, 71-60. Salem falls to 2-6 on the year and will host Sullivan tonight starting at 5:00 with a 9th grade game with the JV to follow. You can video stream the games on the KSMO Media. Jordan Kyrou scored two goals and Thomas Greiss stopped 41 shots as the St. Louis Blues beat Calgary Friday night, 5-2. The Blues are 2-0 on the five-game trip and will be at Vancouver tonight on KSMO AM 1340 and 95.7 FM right after Salem Tiger Basketball just after 9:00.
DeAndre Gholston’s buzzer beater led the Missouri Tigers to a 68-66 win over the UCF Knights Saturday. Gholston finished with 16 points while Nick Honor had 17 points to lead the Tigers and D’Moi Hodge added 15 more. The Tigers are 11-1 and will face Illinois Thursday night in the border war in St. Louis.
It took overtime, but the Kansas City Chiefs clinched the AFC West Division for the 7th straight year as the beat the Houston Texans, 30-24 on a 26-yard touchdown run by Jerick McKinnon. Kansas City is 11-3 and they will play Seattle at noon on Saturday, Christmas Eve.
The City of Bunker is proud to announce they have received a grant from the Taum Sauk Fund to purchase playground equipment and fencing for a new City Park to be located at the corner of Highway A and Main Street. They will be getting started on the project immediately!
