Reese Dotson scored 16 points and Jordan Shults added 15 more as the Salem Boys Basketball Tigers had balanced scoring in
beating Cuba Friday night at home at the SHS Homecoming Game, 72-56. Simon Siebert scored 20 points for Cuba followed by Jonathan Bayles who netted 19 more as the Wildcats remain winless on the season at 0-7. Salem improves to 2-6 going into a long Christmas break. They will next play in the Owensville Tournament in the first week of January.

Breanna Diestelkamp scored 34 points in leading the Owensville Dutchgirls to a 66-60 win over the Salem Lady Basketball Tigers Friday night in the Peoples Bank Holiday Classic Consolation Championship. Taylor Norris scored 22 points for Salem followed by Madison Woolf with 14 and Michaela Chilton with 12 more. Salem falls to 5-3 on the year and they have lost three of their last four games. They will be on the road at Willow Springs tonight to face the Lady Bears starting with a JV game at 6:00 with the varsity game to follow at 7:15.

In the People’s Bank Holiday Classic in Sullivan, Salem Lady Tiger Taylor Norris was named to the All-Tournament Team. Congratulations Taylor!

Philip Rivers led the Chargers to a pair of touchdowns in the final minutes, then hit Mike Williams for the go-ahead 2-point conversion with 4 seconds remaining to give Los Angeles a 29-28 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday night. Not only did the Chargers clinch a playoff berth, they forged a first-place tie with the Chiefs (11-3) in the AFC West while ending a nine-game losing streak to their longtime division rivals.

Friday night, Ryan O’Reilly scored a short-handed goal 2:05 into overtime to lift the St. Louis Blues over the Colorado Avalanche 4-3 on Friday night. Colton Parayko scored twice and Ivan Barbashev also had a goal for the Blues. Jake Allen made 39 saves. On Sunday, the St. Louis Blues gave up four 1st period goals en route to a 7-2 loss to Calgary. Oskar Sundqvist and Tyler Bozak scored for St. Louis as they will begin a three-game road trip to Canada on Tuesday night in Edmonton.
