The Salem Baseball Tigers played this weekend at the Russellville Tournament and they beat Osage Friday, 6-4, before losing to New Bloomfield on Saturday, 15-9. In the 3rd place game Saturday, Salem lost to Russellville, 16-7. Salem is now 7-10 on the year. The Tigers will be at St. James today to face the Tigers in a pre-District match up starting at 4:30. The Salem Golf Team will be in Sullivan this week for District play at the Sullivan Country Club.

The Salem Tiger Tennis Team, 8-2 on the year, will finish the season today at Richland at 4:30 and Tuesday at home against Osage, also at 4:30.

The Salem Track Teams will be at Ava today for the SCA Track meet starting at 4:00.

Nick Kingham carried a perfect game into the seventh inning in his major league debut to lead the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 5-0 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday and a sweep of the series. Right-hander Luke Weaver (2-2) took the loss after allowing four runs on six hits with six strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings. The Cards are off today.

Cheslor Cuthbert homered twice and drove in four runs as the Kansas City Royals won consecutive games for the first time this season, defeating the Chicago White Sox 5-4 on Sunday. Reliever Brandon McCarthy (2-0) picked up the victory, while Blaine Boyer logged his fifth career save. The Royals’ Jason Hammel will start tonight at Boston to open a three-game series.
