The Salem Softball Classic was held this past Saturday at the Salem City Park. Seven teams participated and Dixon won the tournament with the Salem Lady Tigers taking 2nd Place. Three Salem Lady Tigers were named to the All-Tournament Team and they were Ashley Bowers, Saylor Van Wyk and Shaylee Thomas. Aubrey Gorman and Haley Clayton of Licking were also named to the All-Tournament Team. The MVP of the tournament was Maddie Ryan from Dixon. The Salem Lady Tigers will host Mountain View-Liberty this afternoon in SCA Conference Play at 4:30 at the Salem City Park. The Lady Tigers are 2-3 in the SCA Conference.

The Salem Baseball Tigers defeated Plato Friday in Military Appreciation Day at Plato, 4-3. Three unearned runs that scored in the 5th inning by the Tigers proved to be the difference. Salem improves to 5-10 on the year, 2-3 in the SCA Conference. The Tigers will be at Ava today to face the Bears. The Salem Tiger Tennis Team will be Lebanon today with the match beginning at 4:00. They are 7-3 on the year.

Nolan Gorman hit a three-run homer while Lars Nootbaar and Paul DeJong each hit solo shots as St. Louis beat Seattle Sunday, 7-3 for their only win of the series. Jack Flaherty went six innings giving up five hits and three runs getting the win. The Cardinals will be in San Francisco to start a four-game series starting tonight at 7:50 on KSMO Radio AM 1340 and 95.7 FM.

MC Melendez, Bobby Witt, Jr., and Vinny Pasquantino each hit solo homers, but it wasn’t enough as the LA Angels of Anaheim hit three solo homers of their own back-to-back-to-back in the 6th inning meaning the sacrifice fly in the 1st inning was the difference as the Angels won, 4-3. The Royals begin a three-game series in Arizona tonight. The Royals are 5-17 on the year and in last place in the Central Division.
