The Salem Baseball Tigers lost to Dixon Friday night by the score of 5-4 at the Salem High School Baseball Complex in the Salem Baseball Tournament. The games Saturday were cancelled due to rain. The Salem Baseball Tigers are scheduled to be at Houston at 4:30 this afternoon in an SCA Conference game beginning at 4:15 with Tiger Talk on KSMO radio.

Late signups are being accepted for the City of Salem Parks and Recreation Department’s Youth Baseball, T-Ball and Softball Leagues through this Friday, April 20th. The cost is now $35 per child for all boys and girls age 14 and under. You can sign up your child at the Salem Community Center@The Armory during regular business hours from 8:00 in the morning until 4:30 in the afternoon. Carlos Martinez struck out a season-high 11 batters in seven shutout innings and Harrison Bader’s two-run home run helped the St. Louis Cardinals complete their first four-game sweep in Cincinnati since 1949 with a 3-2 win on Sunday. Martinez (2-1) allowed two hits and four walks while helping send the Reds to their eighth consecutive loss. Yadier Molina’s RBI single in the 8th inning driving Jose Martinez who doubled proved to be the winning run. The Cards will be in Chicago tonight to face the Cubs for the first time this year. The Kansas City Royals game Sunday with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim was postponed due to cold conditions about 20 minutes before the 1st pitch. The game was rescheduled for June 25th. The Angels had taken the first three games of the series. The Royals will begin a three game series in Toronto continue their series this weekend at Kaufmann Stadium.
