The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers battled the Cabool Lady Bulldogs Thursday night at the SHS Gym in SCA Conference play and fell three games to one. Cabool won the first two games: 25-17 and 25-15, but Salem came back and beat the Lady Bulldogs in the third game, 25-20, then forced the fourth game into extra time before losing, 30-28. Salem is 2-1 in the SCA Conference while the Bulldogs are 3-0 in the conference. Salem is 5-11-2 on the year while the Bulldogs improve to 14-1. Salem will host the St. Clair Lady Bulldogs Monday night starting with a freshman contest at 4:45, the JV match at 5:30 and the varsity contest around 6:45 to 7:00. The varsity match will be carried on KSMO Radio and KSMO Media.
The Salem Football Tigers scored first on an Evan Mendenhall touchdown run in the 1st quarter before the Ava Bears scored six unanswered touchdowns and beat Salem Thursday night, 60-18. Rueben Hovey and Tobey Gover also scored for Salem who are 0-5 on the year and 0-3 in the SCA Conference. Ava is now 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the SCA Conference. Salem will be at Willow Springs next Friday night to face the Bears starting at 7:00. The game can be heard on KSMO Radio and seen on KSMO Media.
The Kansas City Royals played the Washington Nationals yesterday and in the top of the ninth the Royals score three unanswered runs to swept the Nationals with a 7-4 victory. They start a new series versus the Braves tonight at 6:20.
The St. Louis Cardinals played game three versus the Colorado Rockies last night. The Cards would lose the game 10-8 by giving up five runs in the eighth. They won the overall series 2-1. Tonight they begin a new three game series versus the San Francisco Giants. This will be their last series of the the 2024 season. First pitch is at 9:15, and you can listen to this game live on KSMO 1340 AM & 95.7 FM, with the pregame show starting at 8:20.
