The Salem Lady Varsity Volleyball Tigers fell the Ava Bears in their first SCA Conference match of the year, but it took five sets. Ava won the first set, 25-23, then Salem won the second set by the score of 25-21. Ava came back and won the 3rd set, 25-21 before Salem responded with a solid 25-17 win. In the 5th set, the game was tied at 6-6 before Ava went on a three-point run and Salem could not recover and fell to Ava, 15-11. Salem is now 4-9 on the year and the Lady Tigers will participate in the Cabool Invitational Tournament Saturday.

The Salem Lady JV Volleyball Tigers won both games against ava by the scores of 25-8 and 25-15. Their next contest will be Monday at Summersville at 5:30.

At the Steelville Invitational Thursday, Zoey Elliot finished 5th overall in the Girls Cross-Country with a time of 23:23 and has now finished in the top 5 in each race so far this year with two second place finishes, one third and now one fifth. The boys finished 8th as a team with the best runs by Jordin Sherman with a time of 22:47 and Stetson Mobray with a time of 22:57. Salem will be at Belle Thursday for their next boys’ and girls’ competition.

The Salem Football Tigers will host the Thayer Bobcats tonight at the SHS Football Field at Bill Schuchardt Stadium. Salem comes into the game with a 1-2 record and 0-1 in the SCA Conference while the Thayer Bobcats are 3-0 and 1-0 in the SCA Conference with a win last week over Mountain View-Liberty. You can hear the game on KSMO Radio (1340 AM and 95.7 FM), or video stream the game on KSMO Media (KSMO Stream Facebook Page, ksmoradio.com or the KSMO YouTube Page) with the broadcast beginning around 6:35. The game time is set for 7:00.

The Bunker Lady Volleyball Eagles lost to the Bismarck Lady Indians Tuesday night, 13-25, 3-25 and 14-25. The Lady Eagles will also participate in the Cabool Tournament on Saturday.

The Missouri Football Tigers will host South Carolina Saturday night at 6:00. The Tigers are 3-0 going into the game while the Gamecocks are 2-1. You can hear the game on KSMO Radio.

The St. Louis Cardinals were off Thursday and will host Milwaukee in their final three games at home this weekend. The game tonight and Saturday will be delayed until 9:30 after Salem and Missouri Tiger Football. The game Sunday will begin at 12:20. All the games can be heard on KSMO.

The Kansas City Royals were shut out by Seattle Thursday, 2-0 and their magic number to be eliminated from the playoffs is four. The Royals job doesn’t get easier as they will host the first place Toronto Blue Jays this weekend in a three-game series.

The Kansas City Chiefs will play the New York Giants Sunday night. Both teams enter the game with an 0-2 record. 

The St. Louis Blues open their preseason schedule Saturday night against Dallas and Sunday afternoon against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Those games will not be heard on KSMO due to scheduling conflicts.
