Pavel Buchnevich scored in the 5th round of the shootout to give the St. Louis Blues a 5-4 win over the Washington Capitals Thursday night in St. Louis. The win is the 5th in a row for St. Louis who received goals from Torey Krug, Ryan O’Reilly, Buchnevich and Brayden Schenn in regulation play. The Blues will host the Anaheim Duck Saturday night starting at 6:30 with the pre-game show followed by the play-by-play at 7:00 on KSMO AM 1340 and 95.7 FM.

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers take on Dixon tonight starting with a 9th grade game at 5:30, a JV game at 6:40 with the varsity contest expected to begin about 7:50. KSMO Radio will broadcast the varsity game starting with Tiger Talk and Coach Jared Patterson around 7:40 on KSMO AM 1340 and 95.7 FM. The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers will be at the Vienna Shootout Saturday morning to face California at 11:00.

The Missouri Football Tigers host New Mexico State Saturday night at 6:30 at Faurot Field. The Tigers are 4-6 overall and 2-5 in the SEC Conference The game will NOT be heard on KSMO due to St. Louis Blues hockey.

St. Louis Cardinals star first baseman Paul Goldschmidt finally captured his first National League Most Valuable Player Award on Thursday night. Goldschmidt, twice a runner-up and a top-six finisher five times, beat out Padres third baseman Manny Machado and teammate Nolan Arenado for one of the sport’s most prestigious honors.
