Yoenis Cespedes drove in three runs and newcomer Adrian Gonzalez hit a go-ahead double to lead Noah Syndergaard and the New York Mets past the St. Louis Cardinals 9-4 in their opener Thursday. Yadier Molina hit a two-run homer and Joe Martinez hit a solo shot for the Cards whose pitching gave the Mets nine walks and eight hits. St. Louis is off today before they play the Mets Saturday and Sunday at 11:15 each day on KSMO Radio.

Closer Greg Holland agreed to a $14 million, one-year contract with the Cardinals Thursday, pending a physical. Holland is a three time All-Star in that role.

Matt Davidson became the fourth player in major league history to homer three times on opening day, the White Sox went deep six times total and Chicago routed the Kansas City Royals 14-7 on Opening Day. Tim Anderson also homered twice and Jose Abreu went deep for the White Sox, who picked up starter James Shields (1-0) who got the win after he gave up four runs in the 1st inning. The Royals are off today before playing Saturday night.

The St. Louis Blues will be on the road at Las Vegas tonight to face the Golden Nights starting at 9:00 on KSMO Radio. The Blues have won six straight games and are currently in the 1st wild card slot in the Western Division. The Blues will be at Arizona Saturday evening starting at 7:30 on KSMO Radio.
