Matt Carpenter homered but the New York Mets beat the Red Birds, 3-2. The Cards will take on the Houston Astros this afternoon. They will play the Miami Marlins Saturday and the New York Mets Sunday. Both games will start at 11:45 and can be heard on KSMO Radio.

The St. Louis Cardinals have agreed to terms with free-agent catcher Matt Wieters on a minor league contract with a non-roster invite to the team’s Major League Spring Training camp. The 32-year old Weiters will compete for the backup catching position with Francisco Pena. The 32-year old Wieters has played the past two seasons with the Washington Nationals after an eight-year stint in Baltimore The switch-hitting Wieters owns a career .251 batting mark with 135 HR’s and 519 RBI in 1,081 games played. His 135 career home runs rank 6th all-time among switch-hitting catchers.

Bubba Starling walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th and Kansas City beat San Diego, 3-2. The Royals will play the LA Angels today.

The St. Louis Blues will be at Carolina tonight to face the Hurricane starting at 6:00.They will then host the Dallas Stars Saturday night at 6:30. Both games can be heard on KSMO Radio.

The Missouri Basketball Tigers will host South Carolina Saturday at 2:30. That game will be joined in progress Saturday after the Cards baseball game.
