The SEC Conference in lieu of the coronavirus pandemic announcement has elected to cancel the SEC Tournament in Nashville. The decision was made Thursday morning before the Missouri Tigers were to play Texas A&M.

Dennis Ortega’s two-run single and Justin Williams’ RBI double led the offense while Adam Wainwright went five shutout innings giving up two hits in the last spring training game befiore the spring training games have been cancelled as the St. Louis Cardinals beat Miami, 3-0.

The Kansas City Royals game with Seattle Thursday was cancelled as part of Major League Baseball shutting down spring training.

Major League Baseball Players Association Commissioner Robert D. Manfred, Jr. Thursday announced that Major League Baseball has decided to suspend Spring Training games and to delay the start of the 2020 regular season by at least two weeks due to the national emergency created by the coronavirus pandemic. Manfred said this action is being taken in the interests of the safety and well-being of the players, clubs and loyal fans.

National Hockey League Commissioner Gary Bettman on Thursday announced the National Hockey League will pause the 2019‑20 season effective with the games Thursday night. Bettman in his release stated that with an NBA player testing positive for the coronavirus and with many NHL and NBA teams sharing the same locker rooms, it is no longer appropriate to try to continue to play games at this time. Bettman said the goal of the NHL is to resume play as soon as it is appropriate and prudent, so that the league will be able to complete the season and award the Stanley Cup.
