Tyler O’Neill’s three-run homer in the 5th inning gave St. Louis the lead and it was followed by a Lars Nootbaar home run as the Cardinals scored five runs in the 5th inning and went on to beat Milwaukee, 8-4 Thursday night in St. Louis. Nolan Arenado had two hits and two RBI in the game. The Cardinals open a three-game series with Pittsburgh tonight at Busch Stadium at 6:20, Saturday night at 5:20 and Sunday afternoon at 12:20. Aledmys Diaz went 3-4 and drove in the go-ahead run in the 10th inning as the Houston Astros avoided being swept by Kansas City, beating the Royals Thursday, 6-3. Mike Minor went 5 1/3rd innings for Kansas City and gave up three runs on five hits. The Royals, who took three of the four games from Houston, will travel to Chicago for the weekend series with the Cubs.

The Kansas City Chiefs, who won their first pre-season game against San Francisco last week, 19-16, will play the Arizona Cardinals tonight at 7:00. The game will be on ESPN.
