An accident happened in Phelps County on Highway 72 about two miles east of Rolla Saturday morning at 6:15. According to the highway patrol report, a 2012 Ford Edge driven westbound by 53-year old Elizabeth Brockman of Salem, struck a deer in the roadway. Brockman suffered minor injuries and sought her own treatment. The Ford Edge sustained moderate damage and was removed from the scene by C&C Towing of Rolla. Brockman was wearing her seat restraint at the time of the accident.

The City of Salem Board of Aldermen will hold their regular meeting this evening at 7:00 at the City Hall Council Chambers. Bids are to be reviewed for Waste Water Treatment Facility Phase I Improvements and ten foot dump bed(s) for the Street Department. After the consent agenda has been reviewed and approved, unfinished business will be addressed concerning the purchase of light and heavy duty diagnostic scanning tools which was brought before the Board of Alderman at their August 6th meeting. Reports will then be given by City Administrator Ray Walden and Mayor Brad Nash. In new and miscellaneous business the Board will discuss setting Fall Clean-Up Week for the week of October 8th through 12th, and delegates will be selected to attend the annual LAGERS meeting October 25th and 26th. The Board will then go into closed session to discuss personnel. The regular meeting of the City of Salem Board of Aldermen is open to the public.

The Salem Police Department has released some reports. On Saturday, September 1st at approximately 7:01 in the evening, an officer arrested a 32-year old male of Salem on two active arrest warrants from the City of Salem. The suspect, who was already incarcerated at the Dent County Jail, remained in custody pending a court appearance. A little later at 7:42, an officer was dispatched to Wal-Mart in reference to a shoplifter. The investigation of the report led to the arrest of a 34-year old male of Salem for stealing merchandise valued at $69.00. The suspect was issued a summons to appear in court and released. On Sunday, September 2nd at about 7:52 in the evening, an officer was dispatched to Wal-Mart in reference to trespassing. This investigation led to the arrest of a 74-year old male of Bunker for trespassing after receiving notice not to be on Wal-Mart property. The suspect was issued a summons to appear in court and released. On Tuesday, September 4th at approximately 6:50 in the morning, an officer was contacted in reference to property damage at the city park.  The investigation of the report revealed a person or persons unknown vandalized playground equipment causing damage valued at about $100.00. The report is under investigation. A little later that morning at approximately 9:30, an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 500 block of East Dent in reference to a stolen vehicle. The investigation of the report revealed a person or persons unknown took a white 2007 Pontiac G6 valued at $3,875.00 that was parked on the road in front of the residence.
