The Salem Lady Tigers will be on the road tonight as they travel to Thayer to take on the Lady Bobcats. The JV teams will begin the night at 6:00 with the varsity game to follow.

The St. Louis Blues are back on the ice tonight hosting the Florida Panthers. You can listen to this game live on KSMO 1340 AM and 95.7 FM at 6:30 for the pregame show or at 7:00 for puck drop.

The 17-4 Mizzou Tigers were in Tennessee last night for a matchup versus the 18–4 Volunteers. Early on, the Tigers were able to quiet the crowd and assert themselves to a 34-28 first half advantage. After halftime, the Volunteers battled back and after scoring 28 points in the first half, they more than doubled their scoring output, racking up 57 points in the second half. Mizzou also improved their second half scoring by 13, but it wouldn’t be enough to keep pace as they fell, 85-81. The stat sheet revealed the Volunteers had a higher percentage in scoring free throws, three pointers, and field goals. The leading scorer for the Tigers was Tamar Bates with 22 points on the night. It was a busy night of basketball at the Salem High School Gym last night as the Tigers hosted three games. First was the Salem Lady Tigers falling to the Belle Lady Tigers by a score of 56-40 marking their fifth loss since defeating Cabool. The Lady Tigers start a four game road trip tomorrow night versus the 13-5 Lady Bobcats of Thayer. The Salem JV Tigers played the Houston Tigers in a two quarter game and kept their winning streak alive with a 31-6 victory. They’ll look to extend their winning ways this Friday versus the 2-13 Cabool Bulldogs. The Salem Varsity Tigers wrapped up a busy night, with their victory over the Houston Tigers, 70-51. The Tigers have hit their stride as they’ve gone 5-2 over their last seven contests. Salem will host the Cabool Bulldogs Friday night as 6:00. The St. Louis Blues played the Edmonton Oilers last night and fell in overtime 3-2. The Oilers came out firing as they put 13 shots on goal in the first versus the Blues’ 3 shots. Early in the second, Connor McDavid broke the scoreless tie. Jordan Kyrou and Colton Parayko would respond in the third giving the Blues their first lead on the night. Edmonton would tie the game and force overtime where Connor Brown would give the Blues the loss at home. The Blues are off today.

The Salem Tigers were on the court last night hosting the Sullivan Eagles. In the first game of the night the JV Tigers defeated the Eagles by a score of 38-27. The Tigers kept the momentum going into the varsity game, defeating the Eagles by a score of 67-48. Tonight both the Salem Tigers and Lady Tigers will be in action. The Lady Tigers will start the night off with a varsity game versus the Belle Lady Tigers. This game was recently moved up to a 5:00 start time. Following the Lady Tigers the Salem JV Tigers will play a two quarter game versus the Houston Tigers, with the boy’s varsity game versus Houston to follow. Both varsity games can be heard on KSMO Radio (AM 1340 and FM 95.7) and be video streamed on KSMO Media (ksmoradio.com).
The St. Louis Blues will be at home tonight to play the Edmonton Oilers. The Blues are coming off a victory that snapped a four game losing streak and are looking to get back to an even record. It will be a challenge versus a 32-16-4 Oilers team that currently holds the top spot in the Western Pacific. Sports – Monday, February 3rd 2025

Brennon Meloy scored 28 points including hitting 13 straight free throws in the 4th quarter to help lead the Bunker Eagles past the Salem Tigers Friday night, 56-48. Salem was led by Braiden Gapsch with 17 points followed by Lincoln Thomas with 13. The Eagles improve top 14-3 with the win while Salem falls to 7-11. The Salem JV Tigers trailed at halftime against Bunker, 15-12, then outscored the Eagles in the 2nd half, 25-3 and won the game, 37-18.

The Tigers will be home tonight to face the Sullivan in a make-up game with the Eagles. the JV will play at 6:00 with the varsity game to follow around 7:30. Kinsey Barton scored 32 points as the Bunker Lady Eagles beat the Salem Lady Tigers Friday night, 77-29. Hailey Turnbough from Bunker added 21 more points as the Lady Eagles netted eleven 3-pointers in the contest. Salem was led by Raven Gillam who scored 11 points. The Lady Tigers have lost four straight games and are 4-11 on the season. They will be at Willow Springs tonight to take on the Lady Bears in SCA Conference play. Salem is 1-2 in the conference while the Lady Bears are 0-2.

Friday night, the Colorado Avalanche scored four first period goals and shut down the St. Louis Blues, 5-0. It was the Blues fourth straight loss. Then Sunday, they would bounce back with a victory over the Utah Hockey Club last night, 2-1.

The 20th ranked Mizzou Tigers dominated the 14th ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon, winning 88-61. This marks Missouri’s largest margin of victory over a ranked opponent in school history. Leading scorer for Mizzou was Caleb Grill with 20 points. Mizzou is now 17-4 on the season and undefeated at home.

Salem Tiger Pitcher Blake Edwards has committed to join the baseball team at Hannibal-LaGrange University in Hannibal after graduating from Salem High School in May. Edwards will be a senior this year and will be one of the leaders of this year’s Salem Tiger Baseball team. Congratulations to Blake!

The Salem Basketball Lady Tigers will be in Bunker tonight to play against the Lady Eagles at 5:00. The Lady Tigers enter the match with a 4-9 overall record while the Lady Eagles are 9-7. The Salem Basketball Tigers will be playing against the Bunker Eagles as well, following the Lady Tigers and JV Boys games. The Tigers are 7-10 while the Eagles are 13-3. St. Louis Blues will be in action tomorrow night in Colorado facing off against the Avalanche. The Blues are focused on getting back to .500 while the Avalanche are attempting to move past the Minnesota Wild in the division. The Steelville Cardinals scored 17 4th quarter points to break open a 37-36 game after three quarter of play to beat Salem Tuesday night at the Steelville Gymnasium, 54-43. Gage Harris scored 15 points and brought down seven rebounds to lead the Cardinals who also got 12 points from Jackson Woods. Salem was led by Gavin Sapaugh who netted 13 points. Braiden Gapsch added 11 more as the Salem Tigers fall to 7-10 on the year. In the Salem JV Tigers game, the Tigers dominated the 2nd half and beat Steelville, 59-34 to go to 6-4 on the year. 

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers and Lady Tigers will be at Bunker Friday, and it will be Homecoming. The Lady Tigers and Lady Eagles will square-off at 5:00, followed by the Boys JV game around 6:15. Around 7:30, the Salem Boys Basketball Tigers will take on the Bunker Eagles. KSMO Radio will broadcast the girl’s game and varsity boy’s game, and both contests will be video streamed on KSMO Media which includes ksmoradio.com, KSMO YouTube and KSMO Facebook pages. 
St. Louis Blues announced the team has acquired a conditional fifth round draft pick in 2026 from the New York Islanders in exchange for defenseman Scott Perunovich, who was originally drafted by the Blues in the second round, No. 45 overall, of the 2018 NHL Draft. This season, Perunovich has appeared in 24 games, logging two goals and four assists for six points.

The Salem Basketball Tigers are heading back onto the court tonight, fresh off their tournament victory in Houston, to face the Cardinals in Steelville. The Tigers are riding a three game win streak while the Cardinals are rested after an eleven day break. JV will play first at 5:30 with varsity to follow. The Salem Basketball Lady Tigers are on the road to face the Stoutland Lady Tigers tonight. This was a game recently added to the schedule. There will be two quarters of JV play starting at 5:30 and a full varsity game to follow.

The St. Louis Blues were at home last night hosting the Vancouver Canucks. Three minutes into the game, Conor Garland put the first goal on the board giving the Canucks the early led. At the end of one Vancouver held a 2-0 advantage. Colton Parayko and Dylan Holloway would each score a goal on the night but it wouldn’t be enough for a comeback as the Canucks tallied three more goals defeating the Blues, 5-2.

Gavin Sapugh’s double-double help lead Salem to the Houston Community Foundation Tournament Championship over the Bakersfield Lions Saturday night, 52-44. Sapuagh finished with 20 points and 14 rebounds and was supported by Braiden Gapsch with 11 points and Luke Pryor who added 10 more. Salem improves to 7-9 and have won three straight games. They will be at Steelville Tuesday night with the JV game at 6:00 with the varsity game to follow. The varsity game will be on KSMO Radio.

The St. Louis Blues are back to a .500 team as they lost to the Dallas Stars on Saturday by a score of 2-0. The Blues will be back on the ice tonight to play the 21-17-10 Vancouver Canucks. You can listen to this game live on KSMO 1340 AM & 95.7 FM starting with pregame at 6:00.

The Missouri Basketball Tigers defeated the Ole Miss Rebels Saturday by a score of 83-75. Mizzou outscored the Rebels in both halves lead by Tamar Bates with 26 points on the night. The Tigers will play the 14th ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs this Saturday afternoon at noon. You can listen to this game live on KSMO Radio.

The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship game yesterday, 32-29. The Chiefs are Super Bowl bound for the third year in a row and will play the Philadelphia Eagles on February 9th in New Orleans.

The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers fell to the Dixon Lady Bulldogs by the score of 58-28 to fall to 4-9 on the year. Salem was led in scoring by Raven Gillam and Addison Fulton who each scored nine points. The Lady Tigers will be in Ellington this afternoon at 5:00 to face the Lady Whippets in a varsity only game that was added after the game with Owensville was canceled.

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers won their Houston Tournament semi-final game against Couch by the score of 67-59. Salem improves to 6-9 on the year and will play Bakersfield at 5:00 Saturday afternoon for the championship of the Houston Tournament. Due to previous Mizzou Network commitments, the game will NOT be heard on KSMO Radio Saturday afternoon but will instead be live streamed on KSMOradio.com with Tiger Talk starting at approximately 4:45. At the time of this publication KSMO Media has not received word on available space to video stream so the broadcast could be audio only.

The St. Louis Blues played the Las Vegas Golden Knights last night and fell by a score of 4-2 after recently defeating Vegas this past Monday. Jordan Kyrou and Robert Thomas scored the only goals for the Blues. Overall shooting was down for St. Louis with just 17 shots on goal compared to Vegas’ 31. The Blues prepare to host the Dallas Stars tomorrow night at 6:00. KSMO radio will join this game in progress following the Mizzou game.

The Missouri Basketball Tigers will host Ole Miss Saturday afternoon at 4:30 on KSMO Radio starting with the pre-game show with the game broadcast starting at 5:00. The Tigers enter the game with a 15-4 overall record, and 4-2 in the SEC Conference.

The Kansas City Chiefs will host the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship game this Sunday afternoon at 5:30. CBS will broadcast the game on their network. Numerous streaming options are available however, fees or a subscription could be required.
