The 15th ranked Missouri Basketball Tigers will take on the 4th ranked Alabama Crimson Tide tonight in a key SEC Conference matchup. Alabama is coming of a recent 9 point loss to number one ranked Auburn. The Tigers are looking for their third win in a row, defeated their last two opponents by a combined 37 points. Gavin Sapaugh scored 25 points to help lead the Salem Varsity Basketball Tigers Monday night to an impressive 79-55 win over the Mountain View-Liberty Eagles which put a big dent in the Eagles hopes for an SCA Conference title. Other Salem Tigers in double digits were Braiden Gapsch with 18, Lincoln Thomas with 14 and Luke Pryor with 13 points. Salem is 11-13 on the year and 3-3 in the SCA Conference. They are scheduled to play Mountain Grove Friday night at the high school gym.

The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers Varsity fell to the Mountain View-Lady Eagles Monday night, 66-22 to fall to 4-19 on the year. It was their 12th straight defeat. Salem was led in scoring by Allison Walters with eight points. Salem is scheduled to play Mountain Grove Thursday night at the SHS gym at 7:30. 

In JV action Monday night, the Salem Lady JV Tigers fell to Mountain View-Liberty. 43-8. They are scheduled to play the Lady Panthers of Mountain Grove Thursday night at 6:00.

The Salem Boys Basketball Junior Varsity beat Mountain Monday, 57-39 to go to 12-7 on the year. They are scheduled to play Friday night at 6:00 at home against Mountain Grove.

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers ran into a stifling Thayer defense Friday night as the Bobcats went on to beat Salem, 60-31 at Thayer. Salem was only able to score in single digits in three of the four quarters while Devin Harrington scored 17 points for Thayer followed by 15 points for Easton Pitts. Salem was led in scoring by Luke Pryor and Gavin Sapaugh who each netted eight points.  Salem falls to 10-13 on the year and 2-3 in the SCA Conference, and the Tigers will host Mountain View-Liberty tonight in a game moved up from Tuesday due to the impending storm starting around 7:15 at the SHS Gym. The Salem Boys JV Tigers lost to Thayer Friday night by the score of 55-48. They will take on the Mountain View-Liberty Eagles around 4:30 at the Salem High School Gym. 

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers have been seeded 4th in the upcoming Class 4, District 3 playoffs starting Monday, March 3rd at 5:30 at the Owensville High School Gym. Salem will play St. Clair. The winner of that game will face the 1st seeded Cuba Wildcats on Wednesday, March 5th at 5:30 at Owensville. The girl’s side of the bracket has not yet been determined, but the games will be held at the Cuba High School.

The Salem Lady Basketball Varsity Tigers fell to Sullivan Friday by the score of 70-33 to go to 4-18 on the year. They will play the Mountain View-Liberty Lady Eagles starting around 6:00 tonight at the SHS Gym. That game can be heard on KSMO Radio and video-streamed on KSMO Media.

The Salem Lady Basketball JV Tigers fell to Sullivan Friday night, 42-11. They will start their game this afternoon against Mountain View-Liberty at 3:00 at the Salem High School Gym.

The Missouri Basketball Tigers improve to 19-6 with an 87-74 win over Georgia in SEC Conference Play Saturday afternoon. Missouri was led in scoring by Caleb Grill and Anthony Robinson II each with 15 points, followed by Mark Mitchell with 14 points and Tamar Bates with 13 more. Missouri is 8-4 in the SEC Conference, and they will tangle with Alabama Wednesday night at 7:30 on KSMO Radio.

The Salem Basketball Tigers will be in Thayer tonight to take on the Bobcats. The JV game will start at 6:00 and the varsity game will follow at around 7:30. The Mizzou Tigers hosted the Oklahoma Sooners last night, and after the first half, the Tigers had established themselves with a 20-point lead. In the second half, the Tigers continued their dominance, defeating the Sooners 82-58. Mark Mitchell led the Tigers with 25 points. Mizzou’s next game will be this Saturday afternoon at 2:00 on the road against the Georgia Bulldogs. The Salem Lady Tigers traveled to Steelville last night for a basketball game originally scheduled for this Thursday, and fell by a score of 65-34.

Kolby James scored 25 points including five 3-pointers to lead the Willow Springs bears to a 71-58 win over the Salem Tigers Monday night at Munford Gymnasium in Willow Springs. Salem was led by Gavin Sapaugh with 21 points followed by Braiden Gapsch with 17 and Luke Pryor who added 10 more. The Tigers fall to 10-12 on the year and 2-2 in the SCA Conference. They will be at Thayer Friday night to face the Bobcats starting with a JV game at 6:00 with the varsity game to follow. The Salem Lady Tigers lost their ninth straight game as they fell to the Cuba Lady Wildcats Monday evening, 70-27. Their record is 4-16 and they will be at Steelville Thursday night for a JV game at 5:30 with the varsity game to follow.

The Mizzou Tigers will be back on the court tomorrow night versus the Oklahoma Sooners. The Tigers are ranked 21st with an overall record of 17-6 and a 6-4 conference record. Oklahoma is 16-7 overall and 3-7 in conference play.

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers scored 19 points in the 1st and 2nd quarters building a 38-17 lead at halftime, then cruised to a 61-27 win over the Cabool Bulldogs. It was the third straight win for the Tigers who improve to 2-1 in the SCA Conference and 10-11 on the season. Salem was led by Braiden Gapsch with 19 points followed by Dannon Berry with 12 more. The Tigers will be at Willow Springs tonight for a varsity only game that will start at 5:00 in an attempt to beat the expected bad weather. The Salem Boys JV defeated Cabool in a shortened two quarter game Friday night, 30-3. It was the sixth straight win of the Salem JV who improve to 11-5 on the season. They will NOT play tonight at Willow Springs and their next game will be Friday night at Thayer at 6:00.

The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers will be at Cuba to face the Lady Wildcats tonight. This game has recently been updated to a varsity only game starting at 5:00. The Salem Lady Varsity Tigers are 4-15 and have lost their last eight.

Wade Taylor IV hit a three-pointer with 2.1 seconds left as the Texas A&M Aggies handed Missouri their first home loss this year, 67-64. Tamar Bates led Missouri with 16 points followed by Jacob Crews with 14 points and Mark Mitchell with 12 more. Missouri got off to a slow start and trailed at half-time by nine but went on a 15-2 run in the second half, but couldn’t hang on to the second half lead. The St. Louis Blues played in a thriller versus the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday. In Ryan Suter’s 1,500th game, the Blues defeated the Blackhawks in an overtime shootout 6-5.

The Kansas City Chiefs played the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans for Super Bowl 59 last night and were overwhelmed by the Eagles, losing the game 40-22. The Eagles have won their 2nd Super Bowl Championship in franchise history.

The St. Louis Blues hosted the Florida Panthers last night and it was Zack Bolduc scoring the first goal on the night after just three minutes, thirty-one seconds. The Panthers responded with a pair of goals to close out the first period. Oskar Sundqvist tied up the game in the second. Late in the third with less than 12 seconds left Sam Reinhart scored with a snap shot and sent the Blues to the locker room with a 3-2 loss. The 15th ranked Mizzou Tigers will be hosting the 10th ranked Texas A&M Aggies tomorrow night. Mizzou is 17-5 on the season with a 6-3 conference record and are undefeated when playing at home. The Kansas City Chiefs will finish their season this Sunday in New Orleans as they face the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL Super Bowl 59. This is Philadelphia’s second visit to the Super Bowl in three years while the Chiefs are going for a first in NFL history, championship three-peat. Fox will be broadcasting the game and while there are several options to watch, Tubi will be streaming the game for free on their platform.

The Salem Lady Tigers will be on the road tonight as they travel to Thayer to take on the Lady Bobcats. The JV teams will begin the night at 6:00 with the varsity game to follow.

The 17-4 Mizzou Tigers were in Tennessee last night for a matchup versus the 18–4 Volunteers. Early on, the Tigers were able to quiet the crowd and assert themselves to a 34-28 first half advantage. After halftime, the Volunteers battled back and after scoring 28 points in the first half, they more than doubled their scoring output, racking up 57 points in the second half. Mizzou also improved their second half scoring by 13, but it wouldn’t be enough to keep pace as they fell, 85-81. The stat sheet revealed the Volunteers had a higher percentage in scoring free throws, three pointers, and field goals. The leading scorer for the Tigers was Tamar Bates with 22 points on the night.
