The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers lost to Steelville Wednesday, 30-26 at Sullivan to fall to 2-7 on the year. Salem will play Miller Academy Friday at 4:00 at the Peoples Bank Holiday Classic in Sullivan.

Following Tuesday’s game, the Blues relieved Craig Berube of his coaching duties and named Springfield Thunderbirds head coach Drew Bannister as interim head coach. He will debut tonight against Ottawa at 6:30 on KSMO Radio.

The Kansas City Royals finalized a three-year, $45 million contract with right-handed starter Seth Lugo and a two-year deal with right-handed reliever Chris Stratton Wednesday. That comes on the heels of the Royals signing lefty reliever Will Smith to a one-year, $5 million deal on Monday.

The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers will play Steelville in the consolation round of the Peoples Bank Holiday Classic in Sullivan at 5:30 tonight. Salem lost to St. Pius X Monday night to fall to 2-6 on the year. The winner of the game will play at 5:30 Friday night and the loser will play at 4:00 Friday night in Sullivan.

In a back and forth battle all night long, the Eldon Mustangs outlasted the Salem Tigers Tuesday night, 68-65 at Eldon. Salem was led by Haiden Sanders with 20 points followed by Landon Rictor with 15 points. The varsity is now 3-3 and will be at Camdenton Friday.

The Freshman Tigers beat Eldon Tuesday, 64-35 to improve to 3-3, while the JV smothered Eldon, 79-41 to go 6-0 on the year. Both teams will play at Camdenton Friday.

Detroit scored three 3rd period goals to beat St. Louis Tuesday, 6-4. The Blues will host Ottawa Thursday night at 6:30 and you can hear the game on KSMO Radio.

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers will be at Eldon tonight to play the Mustangs. The JV will play around 6:15 and the varsity will play at 7:40. You can hear the varsity game on KSMO Radio and audio streamed on KSMO Media.

The Salem Boys Freshman Tigers beat Rolla Monday night, 49-31 to go to 2-3 on the year. They will play Eldon tonight at 5:00.

The St. Louis Blues will host Detroit tonight. The game can be heard on KSMO, but it will be delayed until 9:30 after Salem Basketball.

Haiden Sanders scored 22 points to help lead the Salem Boys Basketball Tigers to an 82-57 win over St. James Friday night. Kaiden Gately added 16 points, Bryson May had 15 and Trae Parsons netted 12 more as Salem improves to 3-2 on the year. The Salem JV Tigers dominated St. James from start to finish, winning 71-26. The JV is now 5-0. Their next games will be at Eldon Tuesday night.

The Salem Freshman Boys Basketball Tigers lost to St. James, 36-30. The Freshman are now 1-3 and they will host the Rolla Freshman Bulldogs tonight at 6:00 at the SHS Gym.

The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers lost to Plato Thursday night by the score of 58-25. The Lady Tigers fell to 2-5 on the year and they will play in the Peoples Bank Holiday Classic in Sullivan tonight at 7:00 against St. Pius X out of Festus. Salem is seeded 7th while St. Pius is seeded 2nd.

The Kansas Jayhawks overcame an early first half deficit roaring back to beat Missouri at Allen Field House, 73-64, to improve to 9-1 on the year. Missouri falls to 7-3. Missouri was led by Sean East II with 21 points followed by Nick Honor with 17. Missouri will play Seton Hall Sunday afternoon at 3:30.

Mizzou basketball forward Caleb Grill will be out for 5 to 7 weeks after surgery to his wrist after suffering the injury against Wichita State. Grill was averaging over 8 points per game. Grill transferred to Missouri from Iowa State.

The St. Louis Cardinals announced they have traded Tyler O’Neill to the Boston Red Sox for right handed pitchers Nick Robertson and Victor Santos. Roberston will be added to the major league roster while Santos will be assigned to the minors.

The St. Louis Blues lost to the Columbus Blue Jackets Friday night, 5-2 as Robert Thomas scored both Blues’ goals. Then Saturday night, the Chicago Blackhawks beat St. Louis, 3-1 to send the Blues to their 3rd straight loss. Oskar Sundqvist scored the only Blues goal Saturday. The Blues will be back in action Tuesday night when they host Detroit. The game can be heard on KSMO, but it will be delayed until 9:30 after Salem Basketball from Eldon.

The St. Louis Blues traded defenseman Robert Bartuzzo to the New York Islanders for a 7th round draft pick. Bartuzzo had been with the Blues ten years becoming only one of 16 players to have played 10 years or more with the Blues.

Tyler Bass kicked a 39-yard field goal with 1:54 left in the game as the Buffalo Bills beat the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday, 20-17. The Chiefs have lost two straight and four of their last six games. Jerick McCinnon and Rasheed Rice scored for the Chiefs who will play the New England Patriots Sunday at noon.

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers will host St. James tonight. The Freshmen start play at 5:00 with the JV game to follow at 6:00. The varsity game should begin around 7:15.

The St. Louis Blues will be at Columbus tonight to face the Blue Jackets. That game will be delayed on KSMO until 9:30 Friday night due to Salem Tigers Boys Varsity Basketball.

The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers, coming off their second straight win Tuesday, will be at Plato tonight starting with the JV playing a half game at 6:00 with the varsity game to follow. The Salem Varsity is 2-4 on the year.

Congratulations goes out to the Bunker Eagles Boys Basketball Team who captured 1st Place in the Valley of Caledonia Tournament. En route to the championship, the boys beat Bourbon, Kingston and Bismarck. They currently stand at 3-3 on the year after losing to Van Buren Tuesday night, 45-41. They will be off until the 14th when they travel to South Iron.

The Vegas Golden Knights scored four second period goals to erase a 3-1 deficit and came back to beat St. Louis Wednesday night, 6-3.

The St. Louis Cardinals announced they have named franchise icon and former Redbirds catcher Yadier Molina to the position of Special Assistant to President of Baseball Operations John Mozeliak for the 2024 season.

Emily Strange scored 16 followed by Addison Fulton with 15 as the Lady Tigers beat Viburnum Tuesday, 61-20 to go to 2-4 on the year. The Lady Tigers will be at Plato Thursday night.

Landon Rictor and Bryson May each scored 18 points, Trae Parsons had 14 points and Kaiden Gately and Haiden Sanders each had 12 points as Salem beat Viburnum Tuesday, 105-24. Cole Medlock and Braden Johnston each had ten points for the Blue Jays. Salem is 2-2 on the year and play St. James Friday night.

The St. Louis Blues will play the Vegas Golden Knights tonight in St. Louis at 7:30 on KSMO.

According to the University of Missouri Athletic Department, the allotment of tickets they received for the Cotton Bowl have all been sold. The tickets were sold out in less than 24 hours. Tickets are still available for the game on the secondary markets. The one site that is being linked to the Missouri Athletic Department is Seat Geek if you are looking for tickets.

The Salem Girls and Boys Varsity Basketball Teams host Viburnum tonight starting at 6:00 with the girls game followed by the boys game. You can hear the games on KSMO Radio and video stream the games on KSMO Media starting at 5:50 with Coach Woody.

The Salem Boys Basketball JV will play the Viburnum Blue Jays at 5:00 tonight at the SHS Gym. Salem is 3-0 going into the game.

Pavel Buchnevich scored in overtime to give the St. Louis Blues a 2-1 win over Las Vegas Monday. The Blues will play the Golden Knights again Wednesday in St. Louis at 7:30 on KSMO.

The Salem Varsity Boys Basketball Tigers fell to the Owensville Friday night, 62-54. Bryson May scored 19 points to lead Salem followed by 14 points by Landon Rictor. The Tigers will host Viburnum Tuesday night around 7:15.

The Salem Lady Tiger Basketball Tigers get their first win of the season in the 5th place game of the Fredericktown Tournament Saturday, 40-37 over Naylor. Emily Strange scored 13 points to lead the Tigers followed by 11 more by Fayth Kaminski. Salem is 1-4 on the year and they will play Viburnum near 6:00 Tuesday night in a varsity game only at the SHS Gym.

The Salem Boys JV Tigers beat Owensville Friday night, 52-33 to move to 3-0 on the year. They will play Viburnum at 5:00 Tuesday night.

The Salem Boys Freshman Basketball team won the game with Owensville Friday on a 3-pointer from Ryan Cunningham with 8.8 seconds left, 38-37. Salem is 1-2 on the year and their next game will be Friday against St. James.

Arizona scored three goals in the 1st period, then hung to beat the St. Louis Blues Saturday night, 4-1. Brendon Saad scored the only Blues goal. St. Louis will be in Las Vegas to take on the Golden Knights starting at 8:30 tonight on on KSMO Radio (AM 1340 and 95.7 FM).

The Missouri Football Tigers have been selected to play the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Cotton Bowl on Friday, December 29th in Arlington, TX.

The Missouri Basketball Tigers beat Wichita State Sunday by the score of 82-72. Sean East II scored 22 points to lead the Tigers followed by Nick Honor with 15 more and Caleb Grill with 13 points and ten rebounds. Missouri, now 7-2, will play Kansas this Saturday at 3:45 on KSMO.

The Kansas City Chiefs fell to the Green Bay Packers Sunday night by the score of 27-19. The Chiefs have lost three of their last five games. Isiah Pacheco ran the ball 18 times for 110 yards and a touchdown. The Chiefs are 8-4 and will play Buffalo Sunday afternoon.
