Sports – Friday, January 26th, 2024

The Sullivan Lady Eagles went on a 17-4 run in the 2nd quarter led by two 3-pointers from Karlee Head as they went on to beat the Salem Lady Tigers Thursday, 51-39. Fayth Kaminski scored 20 points and finished with ten rebounds while Addison Fulton netted 10 points. The Lady Tigers are 4-15 and will be home to face the Thayer Lady Bobcats Monday at the SHS Gym starting with the JV game at 6:00 followed by the varsity game. The varsity game will be on KSMO Media.

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers beat Houston Thursday, 61-38 to go to 10-8 on the year and 1-0 in the SCA Conference. Tre Richter had 17 points to lead the Tigers followed by Landen Richter who had 11 points. The JV also won, 74-41 with Braydon Radford leading the way with 24 points. The Tigers will be at Waynesville tonight starting at 6:00 with the JV contest with the varsity match to follow. The game can be heard on KSMO Radio.

The St. Louis Blues go for the 4th straight win as they wrap up their three-game road trip in Seattle tonight at 9:00 on KSMO. The game will be joined in progress after Salem Basketball. The Blues will also play Los Angeles Sunday afternoon at 12:30 on KSMO Radio.

The Missouri Tigers will be at South Carolina Saturday to face the Gamecocks at 11:30. The Tigers are 8-11 on the year and are still winless in the SEC Conference with an 0-6 record. You can hear the game on KSMO Radio.

The Kansas City Chiefs play Baltimore Sunday at 2:00 in the AFC Championship.

The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers host Sullivan this evening starting with the JV game at 5:30 with the varsity game to follow. At the SHS Gym. KSMO Radio will broadcast and KSMO Media will video stream the girls varsity game starting around 6:45. The Lady Tigers are 4-14 on the year and have lost their last three games.

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers will be at Houston tonight in their first SCA Conference game. The JV game starts at 6:00 followed by the varsity game. Salem is 9-8 going into the game. The game will NOT be heard on KSMO due to the Lady Tigers broadcast.

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers have added a game Friday night at Waynesville starting at 6:00 with the JV contest with the varsity match to follow. This game replaces the game with Osage that will not be made up after being snowed out. The game will be heard on KSMO Radio.

Brayden Schenn scored the game winner in overtime as the St. Louis Blues beat the Vancouver Canucks Wednesday, 4-3. The Blues, who have won three in a row, play at Seattle Friday night at 9:00 on KSMO.

Sports – Wednesday, January 24th, 2024

Boston Setzer scored 17 points and had 10 rebounds to lead Steelville to a 61-41 win over Salem Tuesday night. The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers will be at Houston Thursday in a make-up game from January 12th. The JV game starts at 6:00 followed by the varsity game. Salem is 9-8 going into the game.

Brendon Saad’s second goal of the game with 48 seconds left gave the St. Louis Blues a 4-3 win over Calgary last night. Jordan Kyrou and Brayden Schenn also scored for the Blues who will be in Vancouver tonight at 8:30 on KSMO.

Missouri lost their 6th straight game as the Texas A&M Aggies beat the Tigers, 63-57 last night. Sean East II led Missouri with 17 points as they fall to 8-11, 0-6 in the SEC Conference. The Tigers play South Carolina Saturday.

Sports – Tuesday, January 23rd, 2024

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers will host Steelville tonight. The JV will start things out at 6:00 followed by the varsity game around 7:15. The varsity game will be aired on KSMO Radio and video streamed on KSMO Media. Salem is 9-7 going into the game while Steelville is 5-9 going into the game.

The St. Louis Blues will be in Calgary tonight to face the Flames. The game will be delayed and can be heard on KSMO immediately after Salem basketball.

The Missouri Tigers will play Texas A&M tonight and the game will NOT be heard on KSMO due to Salem Tigers basketball. Missouri is 0-5 in the SEC Conference and 8-10 overall.

The St. Louis Cardinals signed free agent Matt Carpenter to a one-year deal Friday. The Cardinals also have agreed on a two-year contract with infielder/outfielder Tommy Edman, avoiding a potential arbitration hearing.

Sports – Monday, January 22nd, 2024

After falling to Cabool Friday night, 62-49, Salem rebounded with a strong effort and beat Summersville Saturday, 79-59, to take 3rd place in the Houston Foundation Tournament. Tre Rictor scored 23 points, Bryson May added 18 more while Landon Rictor scored 15 and Kaiden Gately netted 11 as Salem is now 9-7 on the year. The Tigers host Steelville Tuesday night.

The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers fell to Vienna Friday night, 58-39. The Lady Tigers are 4-14 and they will be off until they play Sullivan Thursday night.

Jordan Binnington made 18 saves and shutout the Washington Capitals Saturday night, 3-0 as the St. Louis Blues ended their three game losing streak. Colton Parayko, Brayden Schenn and Jake Neighbours scored for St. Louis who will be at Calgary Tuesday night.

The Missouri Tigers lost to Florida Saturday, 79-67. Missouri has lost eight of their last nine games. They are 8-10 on the year and 0-5 in the SEC Conference. The Tigers play Texas A&M Tuesday and the game will NOT be heard on KSMO due to Salem Tigers basketball.

Travis Kelce received two touchdown passes and Isiah Pacheko scored what proved to be the game winning touchdown as Kansas City held on to defeat Buffalo Sunday, 27-24 as Tyler Bass missed a 45-yard field goal that would have tied the game with 1:42 left. Kansas City will face Baltimore next Sunday.

The Owensville Dutchgirls hit 11 three-pointers and dominated the Salem Lady Tigers Thursday night at the SHS Gym, 71-30. Fayth Kaminski had 10 points and 10 rebounds while Addison Fulton netted 11 points. Emma Daniels led Owensville with 18 points. The Salem Lady Tigers will be at Vienna tonight in a make-up game at 6:00. It is a varsity only contest. Salem is 4-13 going into the game while the Lady Eagles are 7-7 on the year.

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers rallied from a second quarter deficit to come back and beat Fordland Thursday night, 71-60 in the opening round of the Houston Community Foundation Tournament. Braiden Gapsch had 23 points followed Kaiden Gately with 13 points to lead the Tigers who are now 8-6 on the year. They will face Cabool tonight at 8:30 in Houston in the semi-final contest. Cabool enters the game with an 11-4 record. The winner of tonight’s game will play for the championship Saturday at 6:00 while the loser will play for 3rd place 4:30. The game tonight will be on KSMO Radio and audio streamed on KSMO Media.

The St. Louis Blues lost to the Washington Capitals Thursday night, 5-2 to drop their third game in a row. Justin Faulk and Nathan Walker scored for the Blues who will host Washington Saturday night at 6:30 as the second part of the home and home series. The game can be heard on KSMO Radio.

The Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills play Sunday at Buffalo starting at 5:30. The Chiefs are 2-0 against the Bills in the playoffs since 2021, while the Bills have won all three regular season games against the Chiefs since 2021. The game will be on CBS-TV.

The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers take on the Owensville Dutchgirls tonight at 6:00 at the SHS Gym. That game will be aired on KSMO Radio and video streamed on KSMO Media starting with Tiger Talk and Coach Cody Woody at 5:50. Salem is 4-12 going into the game while Owensville is 9-4 on the year.

Salem enters the a game with a 7-6 record while Fordland is 3-10. The winner of that game plays Friday night at 8:30 and the loser will play at 7:00. The St. Louis Blues will be in Washington tonight to face the Capitals. Game time is set for 5:30, but it will be delayed and played back after Lady Tigers Basketball around 8:00. The two teams will play again Saturday night.

The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers game Tuesday with Owensville was postponed and has been rescheduled for Thursday night at 6:00. That game will be aired on KSMO Radio and video streamed on KSMO Media.

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers rescheduled game Tuesday with Fordland was postponed and rescheduled for Thursday night at 8:30 in Houston. Salem enters the a game with a 7-6 record while Fordland is 3-10. The winner of that game will now play Friday night at 8:30 and the loser will play Friday night at 7:00. KSMO Radio will NOT carry the boys game Thursday night, but will carry the game Friday night, win or lose.

The St. Louis Blues will be in Washington Thursday in the first game of a home and home series with the Capitals coming to St. Louis Saturday. Game time Thursday is 5:30, but the game will be delayed due to Lady Tiger basketball and start at 8:00 on KSMO Radio.

The Kansas City Chiefs will play Sunday at Buffalo against the Bills starting at 5:30 on CBS TV. The Bills are 3-2 against the Chiefs since 2021, but both losses came in the playoffs.

Owen Tippett scored a late third period goal to lead the Philadelphia Flyers to a 4-2 win over the St. Louis Blues Monday. Brendon Saad and Oskar Sunqvist scores for the Blues who will be in Washington to play the Capitals Thursday.

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers game with Houston Friday was postponed and rescheduled for Thursday, January 25th. The Salem Boys are scheduled to face Fordland in the Houston Community Foundation Varsity Boys Basketball Tournament at the Houston High School Gym. Salem will play this evening in the 4th game of the evening starting around 8:30. The winner will play Thursday at 7:00 and the loser will play at 7:00 Tuesday night. Oskar Sundqvist goal late in the 3rd period tied the game, but the St. Louis Blues lost to the Boston Bruins in overtime Saturday night on Charlie McAvoy’s goal, his second of the game. The Blues received goals from Kevin Hayes and Jake Neighbours. The Blues will host the Philadelphia Flyers tonight at the Enterprise Center. The game is not scheduled to be heard on KSMO tonight.

The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Miami Dolphins Saturday in the 4th coldest start to a game in NFL history, 26-7. Harrison Butker had four field goals, Isiah Pacheco scored on a run and Rashee Rice had six catches for 130 yards and a touchdown. The Chiefs’ opponent for the next game will be determined after tonight’s Pittsburgh/Buffalo game.
