Sports – Monday, March 18th, 2024

Robert Thomas scored two goals and the St. Louis Blues won their 4th straight game, 4-2 Sunday over Anaheim. Saturday night, the Blues beat the Minnesota Wild on a shoot-out goal by Brayden Schenn by the score of 3-2. Tuesday night, the Blues will host the Colorado Avalanche at 6:30 and you can hear the game on KSMO Radio.

The St. Louis Cardinals beat Washington Saturday with a three-run 6th inning, 8-5; then on Sunday, Luken Baker hit a two-run 8th inning homer to tie the game fllowed by a grand slam by Brody Moore to defeast the Houston Astros, 10-6 . St. Louis is now 9-9-5 on the spring and theywill be off today before playing two split-squad games on Tuesday.

The Kansas City Royals lost to the Chicago Cubs Saturday, 7-6, then on Sunday, the Milwaukee Brewers beat Kansas City, 6-4. The Royals will be off today.

The Salem Baseball Tigers won their early season doubleheader Saturday as Kaiden Dubois threw a five-inning no-hitter in the first game as Salem beat Cuba, 10-0. In the second game, Blake Edwards threw a five-inning one-hitter as Salem beat Vienna, 14-0. The game today between Salem and Steelville has been postponed and rescheduled for Wednesday at 4:30 at the SHS Baseball Field Complex. Sports – Friday, March 15th, 2024

The St. Louis Blues face Minnesota Saturday night at 6:30, then play Anaheim on Sunday at 5:30. Both games can be heard on KSMO Radio.

The Cardinals and New York Mets played to a 0-0 tie Thursday with each team getting just three hits. St. Louis will play Miami today at 4:55, Washington Saturday morning at 10:55 and Houston Sunday at 11:55 on KSMO Radio.

The Royals shutout Arizona Thursday, 6-0 to go to 13-7 for the spring. The Kansas City Royals split squad will play the Cincinnati Reds and the Cleveland Guardians this afternoon.

The Salem Baseball Tigers will hold their “Early Season Doubleheader” Saturday at the SHS Baseball Field featuring Salem, Cuba and Vienna starting at 10:30.

Sports – Thursday, March 14th, 2024

Jordan Binnington made 40 saves for the St. Louis Blues in a 3-1 win against the Los Angeles Kings at Enterprise Center on Wednesday. Alexey Toropchenko, Jake Neighbours and Brandon Saad scored for the Blues who have won consecutive games after three straight losses. The Blues face the Minnesota Wild Saturday night at 6:30 on KSMO.

Dylan Carlson homered for the only Cardinal’s run as St. Louis and Minnesota battled to a 1-1 tie Wednesday. Josh Thompson pitched four shutout innings for St. Louis who is 7-8-4 for the spring and they will play the New York Mets this afternoon..

Maikel Garcia slugged a first inning home run for the second straight game as the Kansas City Royals beat the LA Angels of Anaheim Wednesday, 3-2. Daniel Lynch IV went four innings and struck out five batters. The Royals will play the Arizona Diamondbacks this afternoon. Kansas City is 12-7 for the spring.

The Georgia Bulldogs went on an 12-0 run to end the game as they beat the Missouri Tigers Wednesday, 64-59 in the “play-in” game to the SEC Tournament. Nick Honor scored 14 points to lead Missouri while Tamar Bates and Noah Carter each netted 11 more as Missouri finishes the season with an 8-24 record.

Sports – Wednesday, March 13th, 2024

Alec Burleson and Ivan Herrara homered for St. Louis as they banged out 12 hits and went on to beat the Boston Red Sox Tuesday, 8-6. Victor Scott for the Red Birds went 3-3 in the game. The Cardinals will play Minnesota this afternoon.

Maikel Garcia slugged a first inning two-run homer, but that was all the offnse for Kansas City as they fell Tuesday to Colorado, 4-2. The Royals will play the LA Angels of Anaheim today.

The St. Louis Blues will be home to face the LA Kings tonight starting at 6:00. It will be the first of four straight home games for the Blues. That game can be heard on KSMO Radio.

The Missouri Basketball Tigers will play the 11th seeded Georgia Bulldogs around 8:30 tonight in the SEC Conference play in game. KSMO Radio will join the game in progress after St. Louis Blues Hockey.

Salem High School Spring sports will be starting this Saturday as the Salem Boys Baseball Tigers will host their “Early Season Doubleheader” this Saturday at the SHS baseball Field starting at 10:30 when Salem plays Cuba followed by the Cuba-Vienna game at 12:45. Salem will then play Vienna at 3:00 for their second game to be followed by the Salem and Cuba JV game at 5:15.

Sports – Tuesday, March 12th, 2024

Kasperi Kapanen had a goal and two assists for the St. Louis Blues in a 5-1 win against the Boston Bruins at TD Garden on Monday. Five different Blues scored including Kevin Hayes, Robert Thomas, Brendon Saad and Alexey Toropchenko. Joel Hofer made 36 saves to end the Blues three-game losing streak. The Blues will be home to face the LA Kings Wednesday night at 6:00. That game can be heard on KSMO Radio.

The St. Louis Cardinals fell to the Washington Nationals Monday 11-4. Miles Mikolas went four strong innings, giving up no runs while striking out 5 and giving up no walks. The Cardinals are 6-8-3 for the Sping and will take on Boston this afternoon.

The Kansas City Royals lost to the San Francisco Giants Monday by the score of 12-9. They are 11-6 for the spring and they will play Colorado today in the desert.

The Missouri Basketball Tigers will participate in the play-in game to the SEC Tournament Wednesday night in Nashville, Tennessee. They went 0-18 in conference play this year and they will are seeded 14th. They will play the 11th seeded Georgia Bulldogs around 8:15 Wednesday night. KSMO Radio will join the game in progress after St. Louis Blues Hockey. Should Missouri win, they would play 6th seeded Florida around 8:15 Thursday night also from Nashville. If Missouri wins, Thursday’s game would be on KSMO Radio.

The St. Louis Cardinals beat the Washington Nationals 7-6 Friday. Then lost to the NY Mets 9-3 on Saturday . Yesterday the Red Birds beat the Miami Marlins 12-8. They will play the Nationals again today at 11:10 on KSMO.

The St. Louis Blues lost to the New York Rangers Saturday 4-0. They play the Boston Bruins today at 5:30 on KSMO Radio.

The Missouri Tigers lost to the LSU Tigers Saturday 84-80.

The Kansas City Royals beat the Texas Rangers Friday 4-2. On Saturday they beat the Diamondbacks 6-5 and on Sunday afternoon they lost to the Athletics 6-3.

Congratulations to the following volleyball players for being named to the Missouri Volleyball Coaches Association Academic All-State Team! Fayth Kaminski, Addison Fulton, Abryanna Hawn, Savannah Nash, Kyleigh Wood, Leya Russell, Alivia Parker, and Madison Flores.

The Cardinals lost to the Astros yesterday by a score of 6-3. This afternoon they will play the Washington Nationals at 4:55. Then Saturday the NY Mets at 11:55 and on Sunday Miami at 12:00 noon. All three games can be heard on KSMO Radio 1340 AM and 95.7 FM.

The Blues lost to the Devils last night by a score of 4-1. Today the Blues travel to play the New York Rangers at 6:00.

The Missouri Tigers will host the LSU Tigers tomorrow evening at 7:30. The game will not be aired on KSMO.

The Kansas City Royals will take on the Texas Rangers this afternoon at 2:05. Tomorrow afternoon they’ll play the Diamondbacks and on Sunday afternoon the Athletics.

The Blues who have won two of their last three games. They will play the New Jersey Devils this evening at 5:30 on KSMO Radio.

Paul Goldschmidt has become the 7th St. Louis Cardinals to win the Lou Gehrig Memorial Award, sponsored by the Phi Delta Theta International Fraternity, headquartered in Oxford, Ohio. Phi Delta Theta presents the award annually to a Major League Baseball player who best exemplifies the giving character of Hall of Famer Lou Gehrig. The Cardinals take on the Houston Astros today, we will not be caring the game.

The Royals fell to the Seattle Mariners yesterday with a final score of 8-7. Kansas City will face the Colorado Rockies today who are coming off a tie game yesterday vs the Rangers.

New York Islander Kyle Palmieri had a goal and an assist to help with the win over The St. Louis Blues 4-2 last night. The Blues will play the New Jersey Devils Thursday at 5:30 on KSMO Radio 1340AM or 95.7FM.

The Missouri Basketball Tigers lost to the Auburn Tigers last night 101-74. Missouri has lost 17 in a row and are 8-22 overall. The Tigers are last in the SEC Conference with a 0-17 conference record.

A four run 3rd inning propelled the St. Louis Cardinals to a 5-4 win over Minnesota Tuesday. The Cardinals are off today before playing the Houston Astros Thursday.

The Kansas City Royals beat the Chicago Cubs 4-0 last night. In the 7th inning Tyler Gentry smacked a three-run home run to left field. The Royals take on Seattle today at 2:00 in the desert.

Pavel Buchnevich scored in the 4th round of the shootout and Jordan Binnington finished with 40 saves as the St. Louis Blues start their five-game road trip with a 2-1 win in Philadelphia. Kevin Hayes also scored for the Blues who will take on the New York Islanders tonight at 6:00 on KSMO Radio.

The Missouri Basketball Tigers will face #11 ranked Auburn tonight at 7:30 at Mizzou Arena. The game will NOT be heard on KSMO due to St. Louis Blues Hockey. Missouri has lost 16 straight games in a row and are 8-21 overall and 0-16 in the SEC Conference.

The Washington Nationals scored the only run of the game on a 4th inning sacrifice fly as they beat St. Louis Monday, 1-0. Cardinal pitcher Sonny Gray suffered tightness in his hamstring and left the game early. The Cardinals will play the Minnesota Twins today in Jupiter.
