The Kansas City Royals played the Boston Red Sox yesterday. The Red Socks took the early lead in the top of the 2nd, 2-0. Then Royals battled back to tied the game up in the 4th but the Sox would go on to score twice in the 6th and four times in the 7th, overwhelming the Royals and taking the first game of the series 9-5. The St. Louis Cardinals finished up their four game series over the weekend versus the Cubs. On Friday the Cubs wasted no time getting out to a 5-0 lead in the second. The Cards would score in the 3rd and 8th innings but it wouldn’t be enough to overcome the deficit, losing 3-6. Then on Saturday, the Cardinals would have to come from behind, this time the Card’s late efforts would pay off and they won 5-4. The Kansas City Royals played the Detroit Tigers over the weekend. On Friday, the Royals would go on to have a big six run, 7th inning as they would defeat the Tigers 9-2. Then on Saturday, it would take extra innings, as the Tigers tied up the game in the bottom of the 9th. By the end of the 11th inning the Tigers would score two runs for the walk off victory, 6-5. Yesterday Kansas City would come back in the top of the 9th, scoring three runs for the 3-2 victory and taking the series 3-1. The St. Louis Cardinals announced they have completed a trade Tuesday with the Tampa Bay Rays, acquiring right-handed pitcher Shawn Armstrong in exchange for outfielder Dylan Carlson. The 33-year-old Armstrong has appeared in 38 games for the Rays this season, including seven starts, posting a 2-2 mark with a 5.40 ERA.

The Kansas City Royals beat the White Sox yesterday 4-3. Early on the White Sox would take the lead in the first, but the Royals tied things up on a Michael Massey home run. Then a three run eighth inning would secure the victory. They’ll go for the series sweep this afternoon at 1:10.

The St. Louis Cardinals announced they have completed a three-team trade with the Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers by acquiring top-rated American League starting pitcher Erick Fedde and former Cardinals outfielder Tommy Pham from the White Sox, while utility player Tommy Edman and minor league right-handed pitcher Oliver Gonzalez were sent to the Dodgers. The Cardinals will also receive a player to be named later from the Dodgers and cash considerations from the White Sox.

The Kansas City Royals played the White Sox yesterday, this was an exciting one for the Royals as there were three lead changes before the 8th inning where Kansas City found themselves down 2-5. Then in the top of the eighth inning with a 9.4% win probability, according to MLB.com, the Royals would knock two home runs and one grand slam home run out of the park. This would put them up 8-5 and swing their win probability 83 percentage points. The score would go unchanged in the ninth for a Royals win. Game two will be this evening at 7:10.
