Obituaries – Monday, July 22nd 2024
Graveside service and interment for Dolores Vera Kreamalmyer of Steelville, age 97, will be held 11:00 this morning at the Freeman Cemetery in Cherryville. All the arrangements are under the direction of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville.
Funeral services for William “Bill” Roy Parsons will be this morning at 11:00 in the Salem Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary. Visitation will be Monday morning from 10:00 until time of service. Memorials are suggested to the Parsons’ family.
Funeral services for Gary Lee Fiebelmann of Salem, age 78, will be held Saturday at 12:00 noon at the Salem Chapel of James and Gahr Chapel Mortuary.. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 Friday evening. Interment will be in the Boss Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Boss Cemetery.

The MLB All-Star Week has concluded and regular season games are set to resume.
The 50-46 St. Louis Cardinals will begin a three game series versus the Braves in Atlanta at 6:20 this evening, pre-game will start at 5:25. This game can be heard live on KSMO 1340 AM & 95.7 FM.
The 52-45 Royals will begin a nine game home stretch by first hosting the White Sox today at 7:10 in the evening. This the first game in a three game series.

The American League beat the National League during Tuesday’s All-Star game, 5-3. The third inning was where the bulk of the scoring was made with a three run homer by Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani, then in the bottom of the inning a Juan Soto doubled in two runs with a David Fry single that tied up the score. The fifth inning would prove to be decisive for the American League All Stars as they scored the final two runs of the game with a Jarren Duran two run home run. There were 39,343 in attendance for the game.

The MLB All Star Week is currently underway and all regular season games have taken a brief pause to attend the scheduled events. During the Home Run Derby, Dodgers’ Teoscar Hernández emerged victorious, narrowly defeating Royals’ Bobby Witt Jr. in the final round. Witt hit 13 home runs, nearly forcing a swing-off with his last attempt, but Hernández clinched the win with 14 homers. Witt, making his Derby debut, showed impressive performance with a total of 37 home runs in earlier rounds but fell just short in the final. Teoscar Hernández also recorded the longest home run of the night at 492 feet.

The MLB All Star Week is currently underway and all regular season games have taken a brief pause to attend the scheduled events. Yesterday was the MLB Draft and at pick number six, the Kansas City Royals selected, Jac Caglianone, from Florida. He was ranked the third overall prospect but fell to the Royals. The Cardinals first round pick was next at number seven, and they selected, JJ Wetherholt, from West Virginia. He was ranked as the fourth overall prospect in the Draft.

The Cardinals played the Cubs on Friday, had a double header Saturday, and finished the four game series yesterday. The result was a 4-1 series victory for the Cardinals. As of today the Cardinals are just five games behind the Brewers for the National League Central, with a record of 50-46. Their next game will be against the Atlanta Braves this Friday at 6:20 in the evening. You can tune into KSMO Radio 1340 AM, 95.7 FM to listen to this game live.
The Royals played the Red Sox over the weekend and after winning the first game on Friday 6-1, they were shutout on Saturday 5-0. Yesterday afternoon was a close loss with a final score of 4-5. After the All-Star break, the 52-45 Royals will start a three game series against the White Sox on Friday, in Kansas City.
The Major League Baseball All-Star week is currently in full swing, with the Gatorade All-Star Workout Day today, followed up with the T-Mobile Home Run Derby. On Tuesday, there will be the All-Star Red Carpet Show followed by the MLB All-Star Game.

The Cardinals and Royals played a double header yesterday. In their first game, Nolan Arenado got the Cards on the board first with a home run. Then in the bottom of the 3rd Alec Burleson had a homer of his own lifting the Cards up to an early 3-0 lead. In the top of the 5th the Royals tied the game up with a pair of doubles. After that the Royals would take the lead and never look back with a Salvado Perez home run as the Kansas City Royals secured the 6-4 victory. Hours later the Royals and Cards faced off again and once again the Cards would strike first with a Lars Nootbaar home run, giving the Cards a quick 1-0 lead. MJ Melendez immediately respond with a homer of his own, tying up the game, then in the top of the 4th, the Royals would score a pair of runs and never relinquish the lead, going on to sweep the two game series with a 8-5 victory. The Royals will get a day off and play the Red Sox this Friday. The Cardinals will face the Cubs Friday night, you can listen to this game live on KSMO 1340 AM & 95.7 FM starting at 6:10.

The Cardinals and Royals game yesterday was rained out and postponed to this afternoon, and with today’s regularly scheduled game already on the books we’ll have a double header! The St. Louis Cardinals wrapped up their four game series yesterday by shutting out the Washington Nationals 6-0, taking the overall series 3-1. The Cardinals have won or split each series they’ve played since facing the Colorado Rockies on June 6th, and they now head home for a two game face off with the Kansas City Royals who had the day off yesterday. The Royals are entering the game with a 49-43 record while the Cards are at 48-42. Tune in to the pregame show, starting at 5:50 this evening by listening to KSMO 1340 AM and 95.7 FM with the game start at 6:45. Weather may delay the game due to rain and potential thunderstorms expected.

The St. Louis Cardinals had their hands full with the Washington Nationals over the weekend. On Friday Washington got off to a quick 5-0 lead over the Cards but by the top of the 4th St. Louis began to battle back and in the 9th inning they tied up the game. It took two extra innings but the Cards were victorious by the end of the night with a 7-6 score. On Saturday, it was a game to forget, the Nationals went up 9 by the bottom of the 2nd. The Cards would have a 4 run 3rd but it wouldn’t be enough as the final score would result in a 6-14 loss. Yesterday the Cardinals bounced back with a 8-3 red bird winner. This afternoon you can listen in to KSMO 1340 AM 95.7 FM to hear their final game of the series with the pregame starting at 2:10 and first pitch set to cross home plate at 3:05.
The Kansas City Royals faced the Colorado Rockies over the holiday weekend, on Friday Kansas City took the lead early but during the bottom of the 8th the Rockies went up a run and held on for the win, final score 2-4. Then Saturday, the Rockies would continue their winning ways putting down the Royals 1-3, however that would all change as yesterday the Royals had a dominate showing, routing the Rockies with a 10-1 victory. The Royals are off today as they prepare for a Missouri showdown on Tuesday versus the Cardinals.
