The Salem Football Tigers will begin their post season play tonight versus the Mountain Grove Panthers at 7:00. The St. Louis Blues and Philadelphia Flyers faced off last night in a close game. The Flyers would go up first with a Garnet Hathaway wrist shot at 11:12 in the first period. After a scoreless second period, Nathan Walker would tie the game up at one a piece with a wrist shot of his own but Philadelphia’s Bobby Brink would get the last goal of the night, giving the Flyers their fourth victory on the young season. The lone undefeated team in the NFL, the Kansas City Chiefs, will play the 4-4 Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday, November 4th at Arrowhead Stadium. Kickoff is at 7:15. The televised broadcast is on ABC and ESPN.

The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers Addison Fulton was named to the Class 3, District 9 All-District Team while Reagan Dubois made the 2nd All-District Team. Congratulations ladies on your achievement!!

Sports – Wednesday, October 30th 2024

The St. Louis Blues played the Ottawa Senators last night. The Senators got off to a quick start scoring with an early goal just over a minute in and would go on to score three goals in the first period. It wouldn’t be until over nine minutes into the third period that the Blues would get on the scoreboard with a Dylan Holloway slap shot. The Blues lost the game 8-1. They’ll play the Philadelphia Flyers tomorrow night at 6:00 with pregame at 5:30. You can tune into KSMO 1340 AM & 95.7 FM to listen live.

Sports – Monday, October 28th 2024

Senior Reuben Hovey rushed for 112 yards and a touchdown, and Senior Tobey Gover scored twice for Salem as the Tigers beat Cabool Friday night on Senior Night, 36-6. Quarterback Hayden Ragsdale completed 4 of 5 passing including a 23-yard touchdown pass to Everett Campbell as well as rushing for 55 yards. Carlnez Head added the final touchdown for Salem who improved to 2-7 with the win and finished 2-5 in the SCA Conference. Salem finished 6th in Class 3, District 5 and will return Friday night to Mountain Grove to face the Panthers in the 1st round of the district playoffs at 7:00. The St. Louis Blues rallied from an early two-goal deficit and tied the game on goals by Jake Neighbours and Colton Parayko, but Montreal scored a power play goal in the 2nd period by Alex Newhook to take the lead for good and send the Blues to a 5-2 loss Saturday night. The Blues will be back in action Tuesday when they will be in Ottawa to face the Senators at 5:30 on KSMO.

The Missouri Tigers played the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday. Alabama took the ball away from the Tigers on three interceptions and scored 34 points while shutting out the Tigers’ offense. Mizzou plays the Oklahoma Sooners next Saturday at a time yet to be determined.

The Kansas City Chiefs played the Las Vegas Raiders last night and won to remain undefeated on the season 27-20. The Chiefs play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next Monday night at 7:15.

The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers played the St. Clair Lady Bulldogs last night at the Sullivan High School Gym in postseason play. The Lady Tigers lost in three matches 25-15, 25-14, and 25-18. This concludes the Lady Tiger Season.

The Salem Football Tigers are in action at 7:00 tonight versus the Bulldogs from Cabool. This game will be live on KSMO 1340 AM and 95.7 FM as well as KSMO Media’s social media platforms on YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook. Tiger Talk will start approximately 20 minutes before kickoff.

The Blues played the Toronto Maple Leafs last night and early on the Blues went up on a pair of goals and never relinquished the lead, beating the Maple Leafs 5-1. The Blues are off today.

The St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Royals are both well represented in this year’s nominations for Gold Glove recipients. Three St. Louis Cardinals are in the running to receive a National League Gold Glove. They are shortstop Masyn Winn, 3rd baseman Nolan Arenado and utility player Brendan Donovan. Four Kansas City Royals players are being considered for an American League Gold Glove. Those players are shortstop Bobby Witt, Jr., catcher Freddy Fermin and pitchers Cole Ragans and Seth Lugo. The winners for each league will be announced on Sunday, November 3rd.

The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers faced the Lady Wildcats of Cuba in the first round of the Class 3, District playoffs and emerged victorious in three straight sets: 25-20. 25-21 and 25-22.  Unofficially, Addison Fulton led Salem with 11 kills while Taylor Fulton finished with seven kills. Reagan Dubois and Abryanna Hawn ended up with six kills each. Salem will play the St. Clair Lady Bulldogs Thursday night at 5:00 at the Sullivan High School Gym. That game will NOT be aired on KSMO Radio or MSHSAA.TV due to a prior commitment.

Monday night at the SHS Field in the final JV Football game of the year, the Salem Tiger JV football Tigers came out victorious in a hard fought game against the JV Eagles of Mountain View-Liberty. The final score was 26-20.

The Blues faced the undefeated Winnipeg Jets last night. In the first period the Blues would go up 1-0 on a Brandon Saad goal. The second period had a trio of Jets goals giving Winnipeg the lead 3-1. In the third period Saad would tack on a second goal but it wouldn’t be enough to get the win as the Blues lost 3-2. The Blues are back in action tomorrow night against the Maple Leafs of Toronto. Tonight the Salem Volleyball Lady Tigers begin their postseason run as they’ll be traveling to Sullivan to face off with the Cuba Lady Wildcats in the Class 3 District 9 Tournament. The game can be heard on KSMO 1340 AM and 95.7 FM with Tiger Talk starting at approximately 4:50. You can also watch the match on MSHSAA.tv for a fee determined by MSHSAA.

The Blues will be in action tonight versus the Winnipeg Jets. You can listen to this game live on KSMO 1340 AM & 95.7 FM. The puck hits the ice at 7:00 with pregame starting at 6:30 or immediately following the Lady Tigers Volleyball postseason game versus Cuba.

Parker Tune scored four touchdowns for Mountain View-Liberty: two on pass receptions, one rushing and one on a fumble recovery to help lead the Eagles past Salem Friday night, 65-0. Quarterback Gavin Reese was 15-21 passing for 302 yards and threw four touchdown passes, while running back Jaren Rutledge added three rushing touchdowns to the Mountain View-Liberty attack. Salem is 1-7 on the season and 1-5 in the SCA Conference and will wrap up their regular season this Friday night against Cabool and it will be Senior Night. The game will begin at 7:00 at the SHS Football Field and Bill Schuchardt Stadium.

The Salem JV Football Tigers will host Mountain View-Liberty tonight at 6:00 in the season finale at the SHS Football Field.

Jamal Roberts four-yard touchdown run with 46 seconds remaining in the game gave the Missouri Tigers a 21-17 come from behind victory over Auburn on Saturday. Trailing 17-3 early in the 3rd quarter, the Tigers came back on a 38-yard field goal by Blake Craig midway through the 3rd quarter followed by a Marcus Carroll touchdown early in the 4th quarter, before the 17-play game winning drive that started with just over 4:30 minutes left. Missouri is now 6-1 and 2-1 in the SEC Conference. They will be at Alabama Saturday to face the Crimson Tide at 2:30.

Kasperi Kapanen’s third period goal at 4:26 of the third period proved to be the game winner as the St. Louis Blues beat the Carolina Hurricane Saturday night at Enterprise Center, 4-3. Mathieu Joseph and Jake Neighbours each had a goal and an assist Saturday night, while Dylan Holloway scored his first goal with the Blues. Joel Hofer made 37 saves for St. Louis which has won two straight and will play Winnipeg Tuesday night after Lady Tiger Volleyball on KSMO Radio.

In a rematch of Super Bowl 54 and 58, the Kansas City Chiefs faced off against the San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium in regular season play. On the back of four rushing touchdowns the Chiefs would go on to beat the 49ers 28-18. Due to a Minnesota Vikings loss the Chiefs are the last undefeated team in the NFL after 8 weeks and play the 2-5 Las Vegas Raiders next Sunday afternoon at 3:25.
