The 7th and 8th grade Salem Football Tigers played the Houston Tigers last night. The 7th grade team won, 46-0 and the 8th grade team followed up with a 36-6 victory of their own.

The St. Louis Blues faced off with the San Jose Sharks last night and after forcing overtime they won, 5-4. The Blues travel to Las Vegas tonight to play against the Golden Knights. You can listen to this game live on KSMO 1340 AM & 95.7 FM following the Salem Tiger Football game.

The Kansas City Royals played the New York Yankees last night and fell, 3-1. The Yankees take the series 3-1 and this loss concludes the Kansas City Royals 2024 season.

The Salem Varsity Tigers and Lady Tigers Cross Country teams will be traveling to Licking for the Wildcat Invitational today, at the time of this publication a start time has yet to be determined.

The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers will be on the road to Licking to face-off against the Lady Wildcats. The Freshman game will begin at 5:00 with the JV and Varsity teams to follow.

The 7th and 8th grade Salem Football Tigers will be in Houston tonight to take on the Tigers. The 7th grade team will start first at 5:30 with 8th grade to follow. Both Salem Tiger teams are undefeated heading into the contest.

The St. Louis Blues faced off against the Seattle Kraken yesterday afternoon and after the Kraken went up 2-0 the Blues rallied and score three unanswered goals to take the win 3-2.

The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers fell to the Bunker Lady Eagles in five sets Monday night at the SHS Gym. Bunker won the first game, 25-22; before Salem came back from a 19-24 score to win 27-25. Bunker then won the third game 25-13 before the Lady Tigers responded with a 25-19 win in Game 4. The final set went to Bunker by the score of 15-9. Salem has lost five straight matches and are 5-15-2 on the year. Bunker is now 11-6.4. Salem will be at Licking Thursday night.

The Salem JV Volleyball Tigers won in two straight sets over the Bunker JV Lady Eagles by the identical scores of 25-11. The JV will play at Licking at 5:30.

The Kansas City Royals played the Yankees in game two of five in postseason play and won 4-2. This ties up the series and they’ll play again tomorrow evening in Kansas City at 6:08.

The Kansas City Chiefs faced off against the New Orleans Saints last night and won 26-13, they remain undefeated this season with a 5-0 record.

Running back Reuben Hovey ran for 90 yards and a touchdown, while quarterback Hayden Ragsdale in the second half rushed for 81 more yards and a score as the Salem Football Tigers won their first game of the year beating the Willow Springs Bears Friday night, 28-14. Tobey Gover also had a rushing touchdown while Evan Mendenhall intercepted a Jace Rodgers pass and returned it 22 yards for a score. Salem is now 1-5 and they will be at Mountain Grove Friday night at 7:00 to face the Panthers in SCA Conference play. 

The Salem Tiger JV Football Tigers will be at Willow Springs this evening at 6:00 while the Salem Freshman Football Tigers will be at Sullivan with that game starting at 5:00.

The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers will host the Bunker Lady Eagles tonight at the SHS Gym and it will be Senior Night. Seniors will be honored before the varsity game which is scheduled to begin at 5:30. Salem is 5-14-2 going into the match while Bunker is 10-6-4. There may be a JV set or two played after the varsity contest, depending on the lengthy of the varsity contest. The 8th grade Lady Basketball Tigers defeated Viburnum last night 48-6. The 7th and 8th grade Lady Tiger Basketball teams will host the Bourbon Lady Warhawks tonight, with tip-off of the first game at 5:30.

The 7th and 8th grade Salem Football Tigers each won their games versus Cabool Junior, 7th grade won 52-0 and 8th grade won by a score of 38-0.

The Kansas City Royals faced the Baltimore Orioles in postseason play yesterday and immediately got on the board with a run scored in the 1st. Cedric Mullins would homer in the 5th to tie the game but a single by Bobby Witt Jr. would be enough to finish off the Orioles, 2-1. The Royals will get a couple days rest before playing the Yankees this Saturday.

The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers played the Willow Springs Lady Bears last night and lost 0-3. The Lady Tigers fall to 5-13-2 on the season while the Lady Bears improve to 10-4-1. Salem travels to Thyer tomorrow to take on the Lady Bobcats following the JV matchup.

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers will be holding a golf tournament fundraiser at the Spring Creek Golf Club on October 5th starting at 10:00 in the morning. It will be a four-person scramble that will include on-course games, mulligans, food and soft drinks. The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers fell to a senior laden St. Clair Lady Bulldog in three straight sets Monday night at the Salem High School Gym. The scores were 10-25, 18-25 and 16-25. Senior Emma Thompson led St. Clair with 15 kills unofficially and St. Clair also served a total of 14 aces in the match. Salem is now 5-12-2 on the year while St. Clair improves to 16-8-2 on the season. Salem will be at Willow Springs tonight starting with the varsity game starting around 7:00. The Varsity Lady Tigers are 2-1 in SCA Conference play. 

The Salem Volleyball Lady JV Tigers fell to St. Clair in two straight games by the identical scores of 16-25. The loss snapped their four-match winning streak outside tournaments. They play tonight at 5:30 at Willow Springs.

The Salem Freshman Lady Volleyball Tigers evened their record at 2-2 as they beat St. Clair in three sets, two games to one. They will next play at Licking on October 10th at 5:00.

The Kansas City Royals will begin their postseason run starting with this afternoon’s Wild Card matchup versus the Baltimore Orioles with the first pitch crossing the plate at 3:08. The Salem Middle School Lady Tigers will travel to Bland this afternoon to play against the Lady Bears. Seventh grade is scheduled to start at 5:00 with eight grade to follow.

The Ava Football Bears JV team will come to town to take on the Salem JV Tigers tonight at 6:00.

The Kansas City Chiefs played the Los Angeles Chargers yesterday. The Chargers jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter but then the Chiefs would respond with 17 unanswered points, winning the game and going 4-0 on the season.

The Kansas City Royals played the Atlanta Braves over the weekend. They lost the overall series 2-1, losing Friday 3-0 and again Saturday 2-1. Yesterday the Royals would avoid the sweep with a 4-2 victory and finishing the regular season 86-76. The Royals will face the Baltimore Orioles tomorrow afternoon with the first pitch at 3:08.

The St. Louis Cardinals finished their 2024 season yesterday with a 6-1 victory over the San Francisco Giants. The Cards finish the season with a 83-79 record.
