The Salem Boys Basketball Tiger teams played St. James this past Friday. The Freshman lost their game 33-17. The JV Tigers fell 52-37, and the Varsity Tigers fell 59-51. The Freshman Tigers will play the Rolla Bulldogs tonight in Rolla at 6:00, while the JV and Varsity teams will host the Camdenton Lakers this Friday.

The St. Louis Blues played the Dallas Stars and New York Rangers over the weekend. Against Dallas the Blues went up early with a Jordan Kyrou wrist shot, but then Dallas would respond with a pair of goals and defeat the Blues 2-1 in overtime. The Blues then hosted the New York Rangers and after coasting out to a 3-0 start, New York would score twice in a matter of ten seconds in the third to make it a close game. The St. Louis defence would clamp down and hold on for the 3-2 victory. The Blues will host the New Jersey Devils tomorrow night at 7:00.

The Mizzou Basketball Tigers faced off against the Long Island University Sharks on Saturday. Trent Pierce led the Tigers with his 24 points in the 88-61 victory over LIU. The Kansas City Chiefs played the Cleveland Browns yesterday. The Chiefs defence took charge by forcing 6 turnovers, helping the Chiefs to a 21-7 victory. Kansas City has a short week to play the Houston Texas this Saturday at noon.

Addison Fulton had a double double Thursday night with 12 points and 15 rebounds as the Salem Lady Basketball Tigers beat the Plato Eagles, 54-50. Salem was led in scoring in the game by Trista Dooley with 13 points. The Lady Tigers will play the Owensville Dutchgirls in the People’s Bank Holiday Classic in Sullivan at 7:00 Monday night. The Lady Tigers are 2-1 on the season are seeded 7th in the tournament. Owensville is the 2nd seed.

The St. Louis Blues played the San Jose Sharks last night and fell by a score of 4-3. The Sharks put 31 shots on goal and took away the puck 10 more times than the Blues managed. The Blues will be back on the ice tomorrow night at 7:00 versus the Dallas Stars and at 5:00 in the evening on Sunday against the New York Rangers. The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers beat the Waynesville Tigers Tuesday night, 40-39, as the Salem defense stood tall late and protected a one-point lead for over two minutes. The Tigers were led in scoring by Brody Ray with 12 points with Braiden Gapsch adding 11 more including the eventual game-winning 3-pointer. Salem is 2-2 on the year and will play at St. James Friday night at 7:00 in a game you can hear on KSMO Radio.

The Salem Boys JV couldn’t recover from an 18-point deficit near half time falling just short to the Waynesville Tigers Tuesday night, 51-49. The JV is 3-1 on the year and they will play at St. James Friday night at 5:30 at the high school gym.

The Salem Boys Freshman Tigers will play at St. James Friday afternoon at 5:30 at the St. James Middle School Gym.

The Salem Varsity Lady Tigers evened their record at 1-1 with a 43-9 win over the Bourbon Lady Warhawks Tuesday night. They will back in action Thursday night at 6:00 when they face Plato in a varsity only match at the Salem High School gym. The St. Louis Blues played the Vancouver Canucks last night. Zack Bolduc, Robert Thomas, and Jordan Kyrou would all contribute goals in regulation but the Canucks kept pace and forced overtime. Dylan Holloway scored the final goal of the contest giving the Blues a win over the Canucks, 4-3. The Blues play the San Jose Sharks tomorrow night at 7:00 in St. Louis.

The Salem Basketball Lady Tigers will travel to Bourbon tomorrow to play the Lady Warhawks at 5:00 in the afternoon. The game originally scheduled was against Viburnum but that school created a co-op with Cuba and is no longer on the Lady Tiger schedule.

It was announced that the Mizzou Football Tigers will play in the TransPerfect Music City Bowl in Nashville, Tennessee at the Nissan Stadium on Monday, December 30th at 1:30 in the afternoon against the University of Iowa Hawkeyes.

Gavin Sapaugh and Lincoln Thomas each scored 11 points as the Salem Tigers earned their first win over the Owensville Dutchmen Friday at the SHS Gym by the score of 47-32. The Tigers held the Dutchman to just two fourth quarter points while scoring 14 in the win. The Salem Tigers JV basketball Tigers improved to 3-0 with solid win over Owensville, 50-22. They will also play Waynesville Tuesday night starting at 6:00.

The Salem Freshman Basketball Tigers beat Owensville Friday night, 33-18 to even their record at 1-1. 

The Mizzou Basketball Tigers upset the number one ranked Kansas Jayhawks yesterday afternoon by a score of 76-67. The Tigers had a 14 point lead heading into the half and never relinquish their lead. Tamar Bates led the Tigers in scoring with 29 points. Mizzou is now 8-1 on the season and will have the week off before facing the LIU Sharks Saturday morning at 11:00. The St. Louis Blues were on the road playing the Edmonton Oilers this past Saturday. The Blues were scoreless after two periods as the Oilers took a three goal advantage. In the third, the Blues attempted a comeback with goals from Dylan Holloway and Jake Neighbours but ultimately the Blues lost the match 4-2. The St. Louis Blues faced off against the Calgary Flames last night. In the first period Zac Bolduc and Robert Thomas would net a pair of goals giving the Blues a 2-1 advantage after one. In the second Calgary would tie the game up at 2. Each team would score in the third forcing overtime. A Colton Parayko poke shot would be reviewed for goaltender interference but then confirmed for the Blues victory, 4-3. The Mizzou Basketball Tigers played the California Golden Bears last night, both teams entering the court with a 6-1 record. After the first half the Tigers found themselves trailing by 16. Then the second-half Tigers outscored the Golden Bears 63-42, and claimed the win by a final score of 98-93. The Mizzou Tigers play the first ranked Kansas Jayhawks this Sunday at noon. The Blues played the Winnipeg Jets last night and it was all defense early on until Jordan Kyrou scored with two minutes left in the second, followed up by a Dylan Holloway’s goal just 38 seconds later to give the Blues a 2-0 advantage. After three the Blues tacked two additional goals and defeated the Jets, 4-1. The Blues head to Calgary to play the Flames tomorrow.
