Left fielder Tyler O’Neill and second baseman Kolten Wong were named National League recipients of the 2020 Rawlings Gold Glove Award for defensive excellence. It is the 30th time the Cardinals have had multiple Gold Glove winners in the same season.

Sports – Monday, November 2nd, 2020

Garrett Connell and Kaden Camden scored 1st half touchdowns and Devin Atchison scored midway through the 4th quarter as the Salem defense shutdown the Potosi offense and the Tigers beat the Trojans, 20-7 in the first round of Class 3, District 2 play. Salem will travel to St. Clair to play the Bulldogs Friday at 7:00 in the district semi-final. Salem is 6-4 on the year.

The Missouri Football Tigers lost to the Florida Gators Saturday night at the Swamp by the score of 41-17 to fall to 2-3 on the year. Missouri will have this Saturday off before playing Georgia on November 14th.

The Kansas City Chiefs pounded the New York Jets Sunday, 35-9. The Chiefs are now 7-1 and play Carolina Sunday at noon at Arrowhead.

Jason West, the Communications Director of the Missouri High School Activities Association, stated that beginning with this Friday night’s games, school districts in Missouri will no longer be permitted to live stream games on their own platforms. In his letter, he stated these changes were approved last year when MSHSAA partnered with BlueFrame Technology to produce and host video content of ALL MSHSAA events. These games will now also be pay-per-view. The cost of each game is $10. To view the game tonight, go to MSHSAA.tv.

The Missouri Football Tigers will travel to Florida Saturday to face the Gators at 6:30 on KSMO Radio. Missouri enters the game with a 2-2 record and winners of their last two games.

The Kansas City Chiefs will host the winless New York Jets this Sunday at noon at Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs are 6-1 this season.

The Salem Football Tigers will travel to Potosi to face the Trojans this Friday night coached by former Salem Head Football Coach Dylan Wyrick in the first round of District play. Both teams come into the game with records of 5-4. The winner of this game will play the winner of the contest between St. James and St. Clair next Friday, November 6th. A new MSHSAA ruling states that all video broadcasts, which Potosi is supposed to provide, must be sent through the MSHSAA.tv website and the cost to watch the game will be $10.

The Salem Lady Softball Tigers had two girls named to the Class 3, District 3 & 4 All-Region teams. Named to the All-Region 1st team for Salem was outfielder junior Chloe Bonner, and named to the All-Region 2nd team was Salem catcher junior Denise Stoner. Congratulations ladies!

The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers dropped their first round district match with the Mountain Grove Lady Panthers in three straight games Monday afternoon at the Mountain Grove Gym. Salem finished the 2020 season with a record of 3-22-3.

Garrett Connell scored on an interception return of 41 yards, on a one-yard run and threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Bradlee Gover, but the difference in the game ending up being the extra point kicked by Bradley Gover in the 1st quarter as Salem edged Cabool, 19-18 Friday night in very close SCA Conference game. Kaden Camden ran the ball 27 times for 132 yards for Salem as they improve to 5-4 on the year. Salem ended up finishing 6th in the Class 3, District 2 standings and will travel to Potosi to face the Trojans this Friday night at 7:00 in the first round of District play.

The Volleyball district for Class 3, District 10 will begin today as the Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers will face the Mountain Grove Lady Panthers at 4:30 at the Mountain Grove Gym. Salem is seeded 4th in the tournament. Should the Lady Tigers win, they would play the Mountain View-Liberty Lady Eagles tonight at 7:30 at Mountain Grove. Salem is 3-21-3 on the year.

Larry Rountree rushed the ball 37 times for 126 yards and two touchdowns as the Missouri Tiger defense held Kentucky, who had the top offense in the SEC Conference going into the game, to under 100 yards in total offense for three quarters en route to a 20-10 win at the Missouri Homecoming Saturday. Harrison Mevis added two field goals for Missouri who evened their record at 2-2 as they will travel to Florida Saturday to face the Gators in a game that will begin at 6:30 Saturday night.

The Kansas City Chiefs had two interception returns for touchdowns and a kickoff return for another score as they beat Denver Sunday, 43-16. The Chiefs will host the New York Jets on Sunday afternoon at noon.

The Missouri Football Tigers were scheduled to play at Florida this Saturday, but because of COVID-19, they will host Kentucky Wildcats instead. The game time has been moved to 3:00 on KSMO Radio.
