The Missouri Football Tigers will be South Carolina this Saturday night at 6:30 in a game you can hear on KSMO Radio.

Salem Lady Basketball Tigers will be at home their first two games starting out their season against Northwest this Friday night starting at 6:00 with the JV game followed by the varsity contest. Then on Monday, November 23rd, the Lady Tigers will host Plato. Again, the JV contest will be at 6:00 with the varsity match to follow. Both varsity games will be carried live on KSMO and ksmoradio.com. Games this year in Salem will be on the voucher system. Only two vouchers per person and there is a limited number. Vouchers are available until noon the day of the game unless the school runs out before that.

The Salem Park and Recreation department is inviting kids in 1st through 6th grades to register for basketball or cheerleading now through this Friday, November 20th. The fee for basketball is $25 which will include a shirt. The fee for cheerleading is $35 and includes a shirt and pom poms. There will be a $10 late fee from November 21st through the 29th. The Salem Football Tigers placed a total of 10 players on the All-SCA Conference teams. Named to the All-SCA Conference 1st team were offensive lineman Brandon White, running back Caden Camden, and defensive back Garrett Connell. Two Tigers were named to the All-SCA Conference 2nd team and they were tight end Bradlee Gover and linebacker Easton May. Players named to the All-SCA Conference Honorable Mention team were offensive lineman Hunter Shaw, running back Devin Atchison, wide receiver Dawson Mock, place kicker Bradlee Gover and linebackers Dylan Thompson and Luke Campbell. Brandon White was presented the special honor of being named the Lineman of the Year in the SCA Conference! Congratulations Tigers on a fine year!

The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers had two girls named to the All-SCA Conference Honorable mention team for this past season. Those girls were Ashton Mink and Avery Erway. Way to go Lady Tigers!!

The Missouri Tiger Football game with Georgia Saturday has been postponed due to a player from Missouri testing positive for COVID-19 which has quarantined much of the team. A possible rescheduling date is December 19th.

The Salem Tigers Boys basketball game with Newburg on Saturday, November 21st has been cancelled as the team has been quarantined. Athletic Director Phillip Karr said the Tigers will also NOT be participating in the Sullivan Tournament starting November 30th as they will not have in their required 14 practices.

Sports – Monday, November 9th, 2020

The Salem Football Tigers battled the St. Clair Bulldogs Friday night in the Class 3, District 2 semi-final with the Bulldogs coming out on top, 42-7. Salem could not get the offense untracked in the first half only accumulating 12 yards in total offense. The defense played very well considering the score as St. Clair had excellent starting field position of under 30-yards on three of the six touchdowns they scored. Salem only score was beautiful 30-yard pass to Dawson Mock from Garrett Connell who made a great catch at the back of the end zone. Salem finishes the year with a 6-5 record.

Patrick Mahomes finished 30-45 passing and ended up with 372 yards and four touchdowns, two of which went to Tyreek Hill, as Kansas City edged the Carolina Panthers, 33-31. Mahomes now has nine touchdown passes in his last two games. The Chiefs improve to 8-1 on the year and they will have their bye week.

The Salem Football Tigers take on the St. Clair Bulldogs tonight at 7:00 in the district semi-final of Class 3, District 2. Salem is 6-4 and the St. Clair is 8-0. Salem has won four of their last five games. You can hear the game on KSMO Radio and online at ksmoradio.com.

Retiring Kansas City Royal left fielder Alex Gordon captured his eighth career American League Gold Glove Award from Rawlings for the 2020 season, tying Royals Hall of Famer Frank White for the most Gold Gloves by a player in franchise history.
