Sports – Monday, December 7th, 2020
Harrison Mevis kicked a 32-yard field goal as time expired to give the Missouri Tigers a come-from-behind win over Arkansas Saturday, 50-48. Larry Rountree scored three touchdowns and Tyler Badie added two more as Missouri scored 27 fourth quarter points. Missouri is 5-3 on the year and have won five of their last six games. Missouri will play #8 ranked Georgia Saturday with the game starting at 11:00.
Mark Smith scored 19 points to lead the Missouri Basketball Tigers to a 72-62 win over the Wichita Shockers. Dru Smith and Kobe Brown each added 14 points to help Missouri to a 3-0 season start for the first time in eight years. Missouri will play Liberty Wednesday.
The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers will play in the Norwood Tournament Tuesday night at 6:00 as they face the host Lady Pirates. The winner of that game will play Friday night at 7:30 while the loser will play at 7:30 Thursday night. Salem enters the game with a 3-0 record. There are no attendance restrictions at the Norwood Tournament, but spectators are asked to socially distance in the stands.
The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers will play their first game of the year Tuesday night at West Plains due to being quarantined. You can hear the game on KSMO Radio and online at ksmoradio.com starting with Tiger Talk and Coach Bryan Carty around 7:20.
The Kansas City Chiefs won their seventh straight game as they defeated Denver, 22-16. Tyrann Mathieu had two interceptions for the Chiefs who improve to 11-1 on the year. Kansas City will play the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.

The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers edged the Lady Cardinals of Steelville Thursday night by the score of 47-45. Salem moves to 3-0 and will be in the Norwood Tournament next week.

The St. Louis Cardinals did not offer arbitration to pitcher John Brebbia or infielder Rangel Ravelo making them free agents. Brebbia pitched for two seasons for St. Louis before having Tommy John surgery this past season.

Larry Rountree III ran for 160 yards and three touchdowns as the Missouri Football Tigers rolled past Vanderbilt Saturday by the score of 41-0. The Missouri-Arkansas game has been rescheduled for this Saturday at 11:00. The game can be heard on KSMO Radio. Missouri is 4-3 going into the game.
The Missouri Tigers basketball team beat Oral Roberts Wednesday night, 91-67. They will play Boston College Wednesday morning at 11:30 in a multi-team event.
Patrick Mahommes threw three touchdown passes to Tyreek Hill and finished with 462 yards passing as the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sunday, 27-24. The Chiefs are 10-1 on the year and will play the Denver in Sunday night football.

The Missouri Tigers-Arkansas game scheduled for this Saturday has been postponed due a number of positive tests and other concerns. Instead, the Missouri-Vanderbilt game has been rescheduled for the second time and will be held this Saturday at 11:00. The Missouri-Vanderbilt game can be heard on KSMO Radio. Missouri is 3-3 going into the game.

The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers started out slow against Plato and fell behind, 8-0, but battled back to tie the game at 18-18, then went on an 8-0 run before halftime to take the lead for good en route to a 63-36 win. Ashton Bowers scored 23 points to lead Salem followed by 18 points by Savannah Manthey. Salem is 2-0 on the year and will be off until they play Steelville on Thursday, December 3rd.
The Salem Park and Recreation Department is inviting boys and girls in 1st through 6th grades to register for city league basketball or cheerleading by Sunday. The fee for basketball is $35 which will include a shirt. The fee for cheerleading is $45 and includes a shirt and pom poms. Those fees include the late fee. The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers dominated Northwest in the 2nd half and came away with a 61-23 win Friday night. Ashton Bowers scored 29 points to lead the Lady Tigers and Bella Jadwin added 14 more for Salem who will host Plato tonight in a varsity only game at 6:00. Missouri defeated South Carolina Saturday, 17-10 to go to 3-3 on the year. Missouri will play Arkansas Saturday morning at 11:00.
Patrick Mahommes 4th quarter touchdown pass to Travis Kelce with 28 seconds left gave Kansas City a 35-31 win over the Los Angeles Raiders.

The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers will be at home tonight to face Northwest. The JV game will be at 6:00 with the varsity game to follow. A quick reminder that you must have a voucher to enter the gym and they are available until noon today at the High School office, but remember they are issued on a first come, first served basis. KSMO Radio will broadcast the varsity game and video stream the game on ksmoradio.com through twitch.tv. The radio broadcast will begin about 7:10 with Tiger Talk and Coach Jake Reardon. The video stream broadcast will begin around game time which is expected to be near 7:25 on ksmoradio.com/twitch.tv.
Salem Girls Coach Jake Reardon reports there will be no JV game against Plato on Monday. There will be a varsity only game and it will start at 6:00. KSMO will broadcast that game with Tiger Talk starting about 5:45 with the video stream starting near 6:00.
A reminder that the Salem Boys Tiger Basketball game scheduled for Saturday has been postponed due to the team being quarantined. The Tigers will also NOT participate in the Sullivan Tournament as they will not have enough practices in as required by MSHSAA.
