The Salem Basketball Lady Tigers will be in Bunker tonight to play against the Lady Eagles at 5:00. The Lady Tigers enter the match with a 4-9 overall record while the Lady Eagles are 9-7. The Salem Basketball Tigers will be playing against the Bunker Eagles as well, following the Lady Tigers and JV Boys games. The Tigers are 7-10 while the Eagles are 13-3. St. Louis Blues will be playing against the Colorado Avalanche tonight in Denver. You can listen to this game on KSMO Radio, on delay, at 8:30 following the Salem, Bunker double header.

The 20th ranked Mizzou Tigers will play the 14th ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs Saturday afternoon at noon. You can listen to this game on KSMO radio with pregame at 11:30.

The Salem Basketball Tiger teams will be at Bunker tomorrow night for a double header against the Eagles. The first game tips off at 5:00. KSMO will broadcast and video stream both varsity games on KSMO radio & KSMOradio.com.

St. Louis Blues will be in action tomorrow night in Colorado facing off against the Avalanche. The Blues are focused on getting back to .500 while the Avalanche are attempting to move past the Minnesota Wild in the division. You can listen to this game on KSMO Radio on a delay at 8:30 following the Salem, Bunker double header.

The Steelville Cardinals scored 17 4th quarter points to break open a 37-36 game after three quarter of play to beat Salem Tuesday night at the Steelville Gymnasium, 54-43. Gage Harris scored 15 points and brought down seven rebounds to lead the Cardinals who also got 12 points from Jackson Woods. Salem was led by Gavin Sapaugh who netted 13 points. Braiden Gapsch added 11 more as the Salem Tigers fall to 7-10 on the year. In the Salem JV Tigers game, the Tigers dominated the 2nd half and beat Steelville, 59-34 to go to 6-4 on the year. 

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers and Lady Tigers will be at Bunker Friday, and it will be Homecoming. The Lady Tigers and Lady Eagles will square-off at 5:00, followed by the Boys JV game around 6:15. Around 7:30, the Salem Boys Basketball Tigers will take on the Bunker Eagles. KSMO Radio will broadcast the girl’s game and varsity boy’s game, and both contests will be video streamed on KSMO Media which includes ksmoradio.com, KSMO YouTube and KSMO Facebook pages. 
St. Louis Blues announced the team has acquired a conditional fifth round draft pick in 2026 from the New York Islanders in exchange for defenseman Scott Perunovich, who was originally drafted by the Blues in the second round, No. 45 overall, of the 2018 NHL Draft. This season, Perunovich has appeared in 24 games, logging two goals and four assists for six points.

The Salem Basketball Tigers are heading back onto the court tonight, fresh off their tournament victory in Houston, to face the Cardinals in Steelville. The Tigers are riding a three game win streak while the Cardinals are rested after an eleven day break. JV will play first at 5:30 with varsity to follow. The Salem Basketball Lady Tigers are on the road to face the Stoutland Lady Tigers tonight. This was a game recently added to the schedule. There will be two quarters of JV play starting at 5:30 and a full varsity game to follow.

The St. Louis Blues were at home last night hosting the Vancouver Canucks. Three minutes into the game, Conor Garland put the first goal on the board giving the Canucks the early led. At the end of one Vancouver held a 2-0 advantage. Colton Parayko and Dylan Holloway would each score a goal on the night but it wouldn’t be enough for a comeback as the Canucks tallied three more goals defeating the Blues, 5-2.

Sports – Monday, January 27th 2025

Gavin Sapugh’s double-double help lead Salem to the Houston Community Foundation Tournament Championship over the Bakersfield Lions Saturday night, 52-44. Sapuagh finished with 20 points and 14 rebounds and was supported by Braiden Gapsch with 11 points and Luke Pryor who added 10 more. Salem improves to 7-9 and have won three straight games. They will be at Steelville Tuesday night with the JV game at 6:00 with the varsity game to follow. The varsity game will be on KSMO Radio.

The St. Louis Blues are back to a .500 team as they lost to the Dallas Stars on Saturday by a score of 2-0. The Blues will be back on the ice tonight to play the 21-17-10 Vancouver Canucks. You can listen to this game live on KSMO 1340 AM & 95.7 FM starting with pregame at 6:00.

The Missouri Basketball Tigers defeated the Ole Miss Rebels Saturday by a score of 83-75. Mizzou outscored the Rebels in both halves lead by Tamar Bates with 26 points on the night. The Tigers will play the 14th ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs this Saturday afternoon at noon. You can listen to this game live on KSMO Radio.

The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship game yesterday, 32-29. The Chiefs are Super Bowl bound for the third year in a row and will play the Philadelphia Eagles on February 9th in New Orleans.

The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers fell to the Dixon Lady Bulldogs by the score of 58-28 to fall to 4-9 on the year. Salem was led in scoring by Raven Gillam and Addison Fulton who each scored nine points. The Lady Tigers will be in Ellington this afternoon at 5:00 to face the Lady Whippets in a varsity only game that was added after the game with Owensville was canceled.

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers won their Houston Tournament semi-final game against Couch by the score of 67-59. Salem improves to 6-9 on the year and will play Bakersfield at 5:00 Saturday afternoon for the championship of the Houston Tournament. Due to previous Mizzou Network commitments, the game will NOT be heard on KSMO Radio Saturday afternoon but will instead be live streamed on KSMOradio.com with Tiger Talk starting at approximately 4:45. At the time of this publication KSMO Media has not received word on available space to video stream so the broadcast could be audio only.

The St. Louis Blues played the Las Vegas Golden Knights last night and fell by a score of 4-2 after recently defeating Vegas this past Monday. Jordan Kyrou and Robert Thomas scored the only goals for the Blues. Overall shooting was down for St. Louis with just 17 shots on goal compared to Vegas’ 31. The Blues prepare to host the Dallas Stars tomorrow night at 6:00. KSMO radio will join this game in progress following the Mizzou game.

The Missouri Basketball Tigers will host Ole Miss Saturday afternoon at 4:30 on KSMO Radio starting with the pre-game show with the game broadcast starting at 5:00. The Tigers enter the game with a 15-4 overall record, and 4-2 in the SEC Conference.

The Kansas City Chiefs will host the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship game this Sunday afternoon at 5:30. CBS will broadcast the game on their network. Numerous streaming options are available however, fees or a subscription could be required.

The Salem Basketball Tigers continue their advancement in the Houston Community Foundation Varsity Tournament this evening at 7:00. The game is being held in the Houston High School Gym and the Tigers will face the Couch Indians. Salem is ranked second in the tournament and Couch is ranked third. The winner will advance to the Championship game to face the winner of the Houston/Bakersfield game. The Championship game will be played Saturday afternoon at 5:00 while the Thursday night losers will play the early game for 3rd place at 3:30.

The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers are playing on their home court tonight against a combined Dixon & Newburg team. This will be a Varsity only match up that you can hear live on KSMO 1340 AM & 95.7 FM as well as watch live on KSMO Media’s Facebook, YouTube, or Twitch page. The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers have updated their schedule and added a few games to round out the season. Tomorrow they’ll play a Varsity only game versus the Lady Whippets in Ellington at 5:00. On January 28th they’ll be in Stoutland for a half of a JV game and full Varsity game beginning at 5:30. On February 28th they’ll travel south to Couch to play the Lady Indians at 5:30.

The St. Louis Blues are back on the ice tonight for their rematch with the Las Vegas Golden Knights. This game will be in St. Louis with a puck drop at 7:00. KSMO Radio will join this game in progress at the conclusion of the Lady Tigers Basketball game.

Sports – Wednesday January 22, 2025

The second seeded Salem Basketball Tigers defeated the Koshkonong Blue Jays last night, 73-47 in the opening round of the Houston Community Foundation Varsity Tournament. They’ll advance in the championship bracket and play again this Thursday evening at 7:00 in the Houston High School Gym against the third seeded Couch Indians. The victor will advance to the Championship game this Saturday to face the winner of the Bakersfield/Houston game.

The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers and Owensville Dutchgirls cancelled their scheduled game last night. Both teams will look for an alternate opponent to play as a replacement game. 

The Salem Freshman Boys Basketball Tigers defeated the Waynesville Tigers last night by a score of 25-21. They will participate in the Willow Springs Freshman/Sophomore Shootout this Saturday to conclude their season.

The Missouri Basketball Tigers took on the Texas Longhorns last night and after the first half found themselves trailing 32-25. Mizzou would start off the second half strong, taking the led with 15:08 left in the game, but Texas would eventually overpower the Tigers by a score of 61-53. Tamar Bates lead the Tigers in scoring with 10 points on the night. Mizzou will play the Ole Miss Rebels this Saturday afternoon, you can listen to this game live on KSMO 1340 AM & 95.7 FM at 4:30.

The second seeded Salem Basketball Tigers will play the seventh seeded Koshkonong Blue Jays tonight at 5:30 in the first round of the Houston Tournament at the Houston High School Gym.

The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers will be at Owensville tonight with the JV game at 5:30 and the varsity game to follow around 6:45. The varsity enters the game with a 4-9 record.

The Salem Freshman Boys Basketball Tigers will be home tonight at 5:30 to face the Waynesville Tigers. Salem enters the game with a 1-6 record, and they have lost their last five games.

The Missouri Basketball Tigers will be at Texas tonight and you can hear the game on KSMO Radio (1340 AM & 95.7 FM) starting at 7:30. Missouri enters the game with a 15-3 record on the season and 4-1 in SEC play. 

The Blues played the Golden Knights of Las Vegas last night. Brayden Schenn and Nathan Walker each got a goal in the first to give the Blues a 2-1 lead early. In the second the Blues would outscore Vegas again 2-1 with goals from Jake Neighbours and Cam Fowler. Vegas battled back late in the third to force overtime and eventual shootout where the Blues would claim the victory 5-4. The Blues will be home to again face the Vegas Golden Knights Thursday night. That game will have a delayed start and can be heard on KSMO Radio after Lady Tigers basketball game.

Sports – Monday, January 20th 2025

The Salem Basketball Tigers fell to the Ava Bears in their first SCA Conference game of the year, 48-40. Salem led at halftime by four points, but Bridger Weidmeier’s three three-pointers in the 4th quarter proved to be the difference. Salem was led by Braiden Gapsch with 19 points. Salem is seeded 2nd in the Houston Tournament and will play Koshkonong Tuesday night in Houston.

The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers fell Friday night to Vienna, 65-31. The Lady Tigers are 4-9 on the year and they will be at Owensville Tuesday night with the JV game at 5:30 and the varsity game to follow around 6:45.

The University of Missouri men’s basketball rode a dominating first five minutes and notched its fourth win in a row, defeating Arkansas, 83-65, at home on Saturday night. Mizzou improves to 15-3 on the season and 4-1 in SEC play for the first time in program history. They were led in scoring by Mark Mitchell and Caleb Grill who each scored 17 points, followed by Tamar Bates with 15 more. Missouri will be at Texas Tuesday night and you can hear the game on KSMO radio 1340 AM & 95.7 FM starting at 7:30.

St. Louis born Clayton Keller had a goal and three assists to help the Utah Hockey Club defeat the St. Louis Blues 4-2 at Delta Center in Salt Lake City on Saturday. Utah scored three goals in the first period in just under 4:30 and never surrendered the lead. Jake Neighbours and Tyler Tucker scored for the Blues who will play in Las Vegas this afternoon at 4:30 and you can hear the game on KSMO radio.

Kansas City Chiefs were at home yesterday to play the Houston Texas in NFL postseason play. The Chiefs would never trail in the game and outscore Houston 23-14. Kansas City advances to the AFC Championship game for the seventh straight year in their quest to be the first NFL team to ever win three Super Bowls in a row.
