Friday night with the scored tied 12-12 in the second quarter, the Camdenton Lakers went on an 8-0 run and never looked back beating the Salem Boys Basketball Tigers at the Salem High

School Gym, 67-57. Salem was led by Braiden Gapsch with 31 points as the Tigers fall to 2-4 on the year. The varsity’s next game will be Thursday morning at 10:30 in Cabool Holiday Tournament against Winona. That game will NOT be broadcast on KSMO.

The Salem JV Boys Basketball Tigers broke a two-game losing streak by topping Camdenton Friday night, 56-49. The JV is now 4-2 on the year. 

The Salem Freshman Boys Basketball Tigers tied the game Friday night with Camdenton with a three-pointer at the buzzer, but fell in overtime, 44-39. The Freshman Tigers are now 1-4.

The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers snapped a two-game losing streak by beating Miller Career Friday afternoon in Sullivan at the People’s Bank Holiday Classic, 66-35. Addison Fulton netted 36 points for the Lady Tigers who are now 3-3 on the year. The Lady Tigers will take on Van Buren this morning at 11:30 in the Girls Mountain Grove Holiday Tournament.

Aleksander Barkov scored with 17 seconds left in overtime to give the Florida Panthers a 2-1 win against the St. Louis Blues at Amerant Bank Arena on Friday. Oskar Sundqvist scored the lone Blues’ goal. The Blues will be at Detroit tonight at 5:30 to face the Red Wings and you can hear the game on KSMO Radio.

The Missouri Basketball Tigers and the Illinois Fighting Illini faced off yesterday. By the end of the first half Illinois held a five point led over the Tigers and although the Tigers would keep the game close they would eventually lose 80-77, snapping their ten game winning streak.

The Kansas City Chiefs played the Houston Texas on Saturday and won by a score of 27-19 to pick up their 14th win on the season. They have a very short week as they will play the Steelers in Pittsburgh on Christmas day at noon. CBS will broadcast the game but it will also be available on Netfix and NFL+ with a subscription.

The Salem Lady Basketball Tigers fell to the Sullivan Eagles Wednesday night at the People’s Bank Holiday Classic in Sullivan, 58-25. This came on the heels of a loss to the Owensville Dutchgirls Monday, 58-10. The Lady Tigers will play Miller Career at 2:00 this afternoon in Sullivan at the Classic. Salem is now 2-3 on the year. Next week they will participate in the 11th Annual Mountain Grove Holiday Tournament.

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers will host the Camdenton Lakers today starting at 4;30 with the freshman game at the SHS Gym. The JV game will follow starting close to 5:30 with the varsity contest around 7:00. The varsity game can be heard on KSMO Radio (AM 1340 and 95.7 FM) as well as video streamed on KSMO Media (ksmoradio.com, KSMO Stream Facebook Page and the KSMO YouTube page) starting with Tiger Talk and Coach Jared Patterson around 6:50. Salem enters the game with a 2-3 record.

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers will participate in the Cabool Basketball Holiday Tournament starting Thursday morning at 10:30 when they face Winona. Salem is seeded 8th and Winona is seeded 9th. The winner of the game Thursday will play Friday at 3:00 in the afternoon while the loser will play at 9:00 Friday morning.

The Missouri Basketball Tigers and the Fighting Illini will battle it out Sunday at the Enterprise Center starting with the pregame show at 11:30. Missouri enters the game with a 10-1 record while Illinois is 7-3.

The St. Louis Blues played the Tampa Bay Lightning last night and found themselves down 2-0 in the second before Pavel Buchnevich put the Blues on the board with a slap shot. After the final horn in regulation the Blues fell 3-1 in a game that they trailed in all but 5 minutes. St. Louis stays in Florida to play the Panthers tonight.

St. Louis Blues have traded defenseman Pierre Oliver Joseph to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for future considerations. The 25-year-old Joseph was originally signed by the Blues as a free agent on July 3, 2024.

The 13-1 Kansas City Chiefs will play the 9-5 Houston Texans Saturday at noon on CBS & NBC.

Athletic Director Phillip Karr has informed Your World Today that he has found a replacement game for the Viburnum matchup that was scratch off the Lady Tiger Basketball schedule earlier this year due to the lack of players on the Viburnum team. The Salem Lady Tigers will now play the Belle Lady Tigers at 5:00 in the evening at the Salem High School Gym on February 4th. The JV and Varsity Boys will be playing Houston that night as well making the event a triple header! If you can’t make it to the game KSMO will broadcast both boys and girls varsity matchups on KSMO radio and KSMO streaming platforms. 

The Mizzou Basketball Tigers played the Jacksonville State Gamecocks yesterday and continued their winning ways. The Tigers handed the Gamecocks their fifth loss on the season by a score of 83-72. Mizzou is now 10-1 on the season and look to play the Illinois Fighting Illini this Sunday at noon. Illinois recently played number one ranked Tennessee and although they lost the contest it was only by two points. The St. Louis Blues hosted the New Jersey Devils last night. It was all Devils this time around as they would put points on the board in each of the three periods. Jordan Kyrou would score the lone goal for the Blues as they fell by a score of 4-1. Next on the schedule for St. Louis is the Tampa Bay Lightning tomorrow night at 6:00. The 7th seeded Lady Tigers will play the 2nd seeded Owensville Dutchgirls in the People’s Bank Holiday Classic in Sullivan at 7:00 tonight.

The Salem Boys Basketball Tiger teams played St. James this past Friday. The Freshman lost their game 33-17. The JV Tigers fell 52-37, and the Varsity Tigers fell 59-51. The Freshman Tigers will play the Rolla Bulldogs tonight in Rolla at 6:00, while the JV and Varsity teams will host the Camdenton Lakers this Friday.

The St. Louis Blues played the Dallas Stars and New York Rangers over the weekend. Against Dallas the Blues went up early with a Jordan Kyrou wrist shot, but then Dallas would respond with a pair of goals and defeat the Blues 2-1 in overtime. The Blues then hosted the New York Rangers and after coasting out to a 3-0 start, New York would score twice in a matter of ten seconds in the third to make it a close game. The St. Louis defence would clamp down and hold on for the 3-2 victory. The Blues will host the New Jersey Devils tomorrow night at 7:00.

The Mizzou Basketball Tigers faced off against the Long Island University Sharks on Saturday. Trent Pierce led the Tigers with his 24 points in the 88-61 victory over LIU. Mizzou will face the Gamecocks of Jacksonville State tomorrow evening at 6:30. Tune into this game on KSMO 1340 AM & 95.7 FM with pregame at 6:00.

The Kansas City Chiefs played the Cleveland Browns yesterday. The Chiefs defence took charge by forcing 6 turnovers, helping the Chiefs to a 21-7 victory. Kansas City has a short week to play the Houston Texas this Saturday at noon.

Addison Fulton had a double double Thursday night with 12 points and 15 rebounds as the Salem Lady Basketball Tigers beat the Plato Eagles, 54-50. Salem was led in scoring in the game by Trista Dooley with 13 points. The Lady Tigers will play the Owensville Dutchgirls in the People’s Bank Holiday Classic in Sullivan at 7:00 Monday night. The Lady Tigers are 2-1 on the season are seeded 7th in the tournament. Owensville is the 2nd seed.

The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers teams will be in St. James tonight. The freshman and JV will both play at 5:30 with the freshman game at the St. James Middle School and the JV game at the High School Gym. the varsity contest will begin around 7:00 and you can hear the game on KSMO Radio and audio stream the game on KSMO media. Salem is 2-2 entering the game while St. James is 2-3 on the year.

The St. Louis Blues played the San Jose Sharks last night and fell by a score of 4-3. The Sharks put 31 shots on goal and took away the puck 10 more times than the Blues managed. The Blues will be back on the ice tomorrow night at 7:00 versus the Dallas Stars and at 5:00 in the evening on Sunday against the New York Rangers. The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers beat the Waynesville Tigers Tuesday night, 40-39, as the Salem defense stood tall late and protected a one-point lead for over two minutes. The Tigers were led in scoring by Brody Ray with 12 points with Braiden Gapsch adding 11 more including the eventual game-winning 3-pointer. Salem is 2-2 on the year and will play at St. James Friday night at 7:00 in a game you can hear on KSMO Radio.

The Salem Boys JV couldn’t recover from an 18-point deficit near half time falling just short to the Waynesville Tigers Tuesday night, 51-49. The JV is 3-1 on the year and they will play at St. James Friday night at 5:30 at the high school gym.

The Salem Boys Freshman Tigers will play at St. James Friday afternoon at 5:30 at the St. James Middle School Gym.

The Salem Varsity Lady Tigers evened their record at 1-1 with a 43-9 win over the Bourbon Lady Warhawks Tuesday night. They will back in action Thursday night at 6:00 when they face Plato in a varsity only match at the Salem High School gym. The St. Louis Blues played the Vancouver Canucks last night. Zack Bolduc, Robert Thomas, and Jordan Kyrou would all contribute goals in regulation but the Canucks kept pace and forced overtime. Dylan Holloway scored the final goal of the contest giving the Blues a win over the Canucks, 4-3. The Blues play the San Jose Sharks tomorrow night at 7:00 in St. Louis.

The Salem Basketball Lady Tigers will travel to Bourbon tomorrow to play the Lady Warhawks at 5:00 in the afternoon. The game originally scheduled was against Viburnum but that school created a co-op with Cuba and is no longer on the Lady Tiger schedule.

It was announced that the Mizzou Football Tigers will play in the TransPerfect Music City Bowl in Nashville, Tennessee at the Nissan Stadium on Monday, December 30th at 1:30 in the afternoon against the University of Iowa Hawkeyes.
