The Salem Lady Softball Tigers won their second straight game as they beat Cuba Thursday, 12-8. The Lady Tigers have now won two straight and are 2-4 on the year. They will be in Cuba Saturday for an all-day tournament. The JV also won Thursday by the score of 10-9.
The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers will be Winona tonight at 6:00 for varsity and JV action. The varsity will play in the Cabool tournament Saturday.
Manny Machado homered and drove in three runs to back Clayton Kershaw, and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the St. Louis Cardinals 9-7 Thursday night in the opener of a four-game series between playoff contenders. The Cardinals and Dodgers play tonight on a delayed basis after the Salem football game, at noon on Saturday and Sunday’s game is now a night game starting at 6:10 on KSMO Radio.
A week after getting roughed up by the Twins for six runs in 2 1/3 innings, Heath Fillmyer came back strong against these same Twins, going a career-high 7 1/3 innings in the Royals’ 6-4 win at Kauffman Stadium. The Royals and Twins will continue their series.
The Missouri Football Tigers will be at Purdue tomorrow afternoon at 4:30 on KSMO. Missouri is 2-0 on the year.
