The Salem Volleyball Lady Tigers beat the Cuba Lady Wildcats in Cuba in the first round of the Class 3, District 9 Tournament in four sets. Salem won the first two sets: 25-20 and 25-16; then lost the third set, 25-23. In the fourth set, each team had chances to win but could not achieve the two-point margin needed for victory. Finally, Trista Dooley with back-to-back kills gave Salem the 30-28 win and the match victory, three sets to one. Salem will play the first seeded St. Clair Lady Bulldogs, Thursday at 5:00 in the district semi-final in Cuba. St. Clair beat the Lady Tigers in three straight sets earlier this year. Thursday’s game can be heard on KSMO Radio (AM 1340 and 95.7 FM) and KSMO Media (ksmoradio.com, the KSMO Stream Facebook page and the KSMO YouTube channel). The contest will also be video streamed on MSHSAA.TV for a fee.

Philip Broberg and Jimmy Snuggerud scored a pair of goals last night to help the St. Louis Blues defeat the Winnipeg Jets, 2-1. The Blues are back at .500 and will host the Vegas Golden Knights in the Enterprise Center tomorrow night at 7:00. KSMO Radio will join this game in progress following the Lady Tiger’s district volleyball game.
