The Salem Lady Varsity Volleyball Tigers fell to the Sullivan Lady Eagles in three straight sets: 25-15, 25-18 and 25-13. The Lady Eagles varsity is now 6-0 on the year, while Salem falls to 1-1. In the JV contest, Salem won the match, 2 sets to 1. Sullivan won the first set, 25-20, before Salem won the second set, 25-15, and the third set, 15-12. The JV Tigers are 2-0 on the year. In the freshman contest, Salem won the first set, 26-24, then Sullivan won the next two sets: 25-17 and 15-13 to win the match. The freshman Lady Tigers are 0-1 on the season. Salem will be back at it Tuesday night when they host the Eminence Lady Redwings at the Salem High School Gym, starting with a JV match at 5:30, and the varsity contest beginning at about 6:45. The varsity match will be broadcast on KSMO Radio and video streamed on KSMO Media.

The Salem Tiger Varsity Football home opener tonight against Linn at Bill Schuchardt Stadium will begin at 8:00, due to the expected hot temperatures. The start of the opening day parade has also been pushed back an hour to 6:45, with the lineup at the East Salem Hill at 6:30. Salem enters the game with a 0-1 record, and Linn is also 0-1 coming into the game. The game will be broadcast live on KSMO Radio (AM 1340 and FM 95.7) and video streamed on KSMO Media (ksmoradio.com, KSMO Stream Facebook Page and the KSMO YouTube Page) starting around 6:35, with Tiger Talk and Coach Neal Myers.

The Bunker Lady Volleyball Eagles will be at Valley today starting at 5:00 for a varsity and JV contest.

On Wednesday at the Cross Country meet hosted by Winona at Peck Ranch, Zoey Elliott of Salem took 2nd place with a time of 22:49 for the girls. Quinn Cooper for the boys finished 28th with a time of 24:43. Salem had three girls and three boys competing at Peck Ranch and are still waiting on some runners to get enough practices in to be eligible, which should be next week. Salem will be at Willow Springs for their next meet Thursday, starting time to be determined.

The St. Louis Cardinals attempted a sweep of the Los Angles Dodgers late last night but in the bottom of the ninth a walk off double saved the Dodgers as they escaped with a 3-2 victory. The Red Birds are heading off to Colorado to face the Rockies tonight to start a three game series before returning back to California on Monday to face the Giants.
