The St. Louis Cardinals’ rookie, Joshua Emanuel Báez, made history over the weekend. If you’re a fan of rare statistical anomalies, it doesn’t get much better than this: Báez hit a home run on his first, second, and third at-bats in his MLB debut. Even more unusual, he hit a home run to each part of the outfield and did so on three different types of pitches. Báez accounted for five of the eight runs scored in the Cardinals 8-4 victory over the Cubs on Saturday. With the series tied up at one, the Cardinals carried yesterday’s momentum over with home runs from Alec Burleson and Jordan Walker. The Red Birds scored eleven runs on thirteen hits and defeated the Cubs, 11-4. Today, the Cardinals are locked into a doubleheader with the Cincinnati Reds starting a five game series. Both games will be carried live on KSMO 1340 AM & 95.7 FM with game one’s coverage starting at 11:45 in the morning and game two to follow at 4:45 this afternoon.
