Maddie Mercer had two hits including a double and three RBI, Jaelyn Chartier had a hit and three RBI, and Izzy Thomas had a two-run single as the Salem Lady Tigers scored 12 first inning runs on three hits and beat Kingston Thursday, 17-0 in three innings. The Lady Tigers received 10 walks and had four girls hit-by-pitches in the game as they move in to the Class 2, District 3 semi-final Monday at 5:30 against the Bourbon Lady Warhawks at Potosi. The game will be carried on KSMO Radio (AM 1340 and 95.7 FM) and audio streamed on KSMO Media (ksmoradio.com, KSMO Stream Facebook and KSMO YouTube) starting with Tiger Talk and Coach Jim Moore about 15 minutes before the start of the game. The game will also be carried on MSHSAA.TV for a fee. Admission at the gate is $6.00 per person six years of age and older.
A seven-run 3rd inning led the Salem Varsity Baseball Tigers to a 10-3 victory over the Willow Springs Bears Thursday in a make-up game from earlier this year. Wayne Skidmore and Maison Sanders each had two hits and an RBI as Salem earned their second straight win. Salem is now 7-13 on the season and the Tigers will be on the road Monday at Stoutland starting at 4:30.
The Salem JV Baseball Tigers beat Willow Springs Thursday, 14-4 to get their 4th win of the year. They will play Monday at Stoutland after the varsity game.
The Salem Baseball Tigers are seeded 4th in the Class 4, District 3 Tournament and will face St. James on Thursday, May 14th at 4:30 at St. Clair against the St. James Tigers who are seeded 5th. The winner of that game will face Potosi on Saturday, May 16th at 2:00 at St. Clair.
The Salem Golf Team will participate in the Class 3, District 1 Tournament in Farmington today.
The Salem Tiger Track Teams will take part in the Class 3, District 5 Tournament this Saturday at Cuba.
The St. Louis Cardinals traveled out to San Diego to face the Padres late last night. While the Padres got on the board early in the first, the Cardinals shut down the Padres and scored a pair of unanswered runs for a 2-1 victory and winning the first game in a four game series. Game two is live tonight on KSMO Radio with coverage set to begin at 7:50. Over the weekend they’ll wrap up the series with KSMO Radio’s coverage of Saturday afternoon’s game at 5:20 and on Sunday afternoon at 2:15 before the Cardinals get a long overdue day off on Monday.
