Shaylee Thomas blasted a grand slam to help lead the Salem Lady Softball Tigers to a 13-3 five-inning win over East Carter Friday at East Carter. Salem banged out 10 hits with Jaelyn Chartier, Josie Bowers, Izzy Thomas and Alexis White each collecting two hits apiece. Shaylee Thomas finished with four RBI with Chartier driving in two runs. Pitcher Alaina Norris got the win going five innings giving up six hits and three runs, one of which was unearned. Salem improves to 7-4 overall, and they are 1-2 in the SCA Conference with a conference game scheduled today against Willow Springs at the Salem City Park. The Salem Baseball Tigers will be at Cabool this afternoon for another SCA Conference game at 4:30. The game will NOT be carried on KSMO Media as they will be covering the Lady Tiger Softball game. Salem enters the game with a 3-6 record on the year and 0-2 in the SCA Conference. Cabool is 1-8 on the year and are also 0-2 in the SCA Conference.

At the Salem Invitational held Thursday at the Spring Creek Golf Club, Aiden Summers shot a 72 taking 1st overall and help lead the Salem Tiger Golf Team to an overall 3rd place finish. The Salem Tiger Golf team finished with a score of 363 finishing behind Sullivan who captured 2nd place with a 357 score and the Mountain View-Liberty Eagles who took 1st Place with a team score of 341. Other Salem individual player scores were Brasyn Hampton who finished with a 95, Ben Owen had an 86, and Daniel Black ended up shooting 99. Walker Smith finished with a final score of 100 but his score did not count in the team total. Salem will be at Cabool Tuesday for their Invitation Tournament that will start at 4:00.

The Salem Tiger Tennis team will be at Rolla today in a match that will be played at 2:30 to allow Rolla to make up a match later in the day. Salem enters the match with 6-1 record. The Bulldogs enter the contest with an 8-1 record.

The Salem Middle School Track teams will be at St. James for their Invitational today starting at 3:00.

The St. Louis Cardinals and Boston Red Sox finished up their three game series over the weekend. In their first game on Friday, the determining play came from the Cardinals’ José Fermín when he batted in Ramón Urías on a sacrifice fly in the fifth. The score would remain 3-2 for the night and a Red Bird winner. Saturday and Sunday didn’t go the Cardinals way as Boston rallied back to take the series, defeating the Cards, 7-1 and 9-3. The Cleveland Guardians are in St. Louis tonight, you can listen to this game live on KSMO Radio immediately following Salem Lady Tiger Softball.

Five different Blues landed the puck in the back of the Blackhawks’ goal on Saturday as they defeated Chicago, 5-3. However, even with the win, the Blues fell out of playoff contention over the weekend. They’ll host the Minnesota Wild tonight and try to hold onto a winning record to finish the season later this week.
