Sylis Dubois had a hit and drove in two runs as the Salem Baseball Tigers beat the St. James Tigers Tuesday at the SHS Baseball Field Complex, 5-2. Salem had two hits, received eight walks plus a hit batsman, and St. James committed seven errors to help Salem end their three-game losing streak. Salem improves to 3-5 on the year and they will be in Houston Thursday for another SCA Conference game at 4:30. The game can be heard on KSMO Radio and audio streamed on KSMO Media starting around 4:15.
The Salem JV Baseball Tigers beat St. James, 6-3 to improve to 2-2 on the year. They will play at Houston Thursday night after the varsity contest.
Aiden Summers shot a 75 and tied for 2nd Place at the Willow Springs Invitational Golf Tournament Tuesday. The Salem Tiger Golf team finished in 5th Place as they shot a 347 total with Summers shooting a 75, Ben Owen had an 86, while Daniel Black and Walker Smith each shot a 93. Bradyn Hampton finished with a 94, but his score did not count in the team total. Willow Springs won the tournament shooting 317, followed by Ava who shot a 327. The Tigers will host their own invitational tournament Thursday morning starting at 9:00 at the Spring Creek Golf Club.
The Salem Tiger Tennis team will host the Salem Invitational today at the Salem City Park.
The St. Louis Cardinals and Washington Nationals played game two of their three game series in our nations capital last night. It was a back and fourth game and going into the seventh the Cardinals were down by three runs. Jordan Walker stepped up to the plate and hit a solo home run to start a red bird rally. Nathan Church followed suit in the eight hitting a two-run homer and forcing extra innings. In the tenth inning Thomas Saggese and JJ Wetherholt each hit a double and together drove in a pair of runs. The Nationals would score in the bottom of the tenth off a wild pitch but the Cardinals held on for the 7-6 win. The deciding game for the series will be this afternoon, live on KSMO Radio, with pregame coverage set to begin at 2:10.
Robert Thomas scored his fourth goal in three days against the Colorado Avalanche last night but unfortunately for Blues fans his fourth goal was the only goal St. Louis could muster against a league leading Colorado team. The Avalanche locked up the top seed defeating the Blues, 3-1. Next up for the Blues is the Winnipeg Jets this Thursday night.
