The Salem Varsity Basketball Tigers and the Alton Comets wrapped up their Cabool Holiday Tournament play in the Consolation Championship game yesterday afternoon. Braiden Gapsch led the Tigers in scoring with 26 points, Eli Wofford was close behind with 24. Both Lincoln Thomas and Gavin Sapaugh netted 10 points each as the Tigers came back from an 11 point deficit at the half to defeat Alton, 85-80. The Bunker Boys Varsity Basketball Eagles faced off against the Mountain View Liberty Eagles last night for the Cabool Holiday Tournament Championship. Entering the game Bunker held an unblemished record with 12 victories while Liberty entered with just one loss on the season. Owen Sanders’ 25 points and Brennen Meloy’s 12 points tied or topped all individual efforts by Liberty as the Bunker Eagles keep their undefeated record intact by winning the championship 66-53. The difference maker in the game, a Bunker 20-4 second period. Congratulations to the Eagle players and Coach Rod Gorman! Bunker will host South Iron next Tuesday night at 8:00.
