The Waynesville Tigers came back from a 19-14 first half deficit as they outscored Salem in the 2nd half, 41-24, to beat the Salem Tigers Tuesday night, 55-43. Jerome Shelton led the way for Waynesville with 23 points followed by Codye Black who netted 21 more including five 3-pointers. Salem was led by Braiden Gapsch with 15 points as Salem falls to 3-2 on the year. Salem will host St. James Friday night starting with the freshman game at 5:00, the JV game to follow at 6:15 and the varsity contest near 7:30.

Walker Smith’s three-pointer with six seconds left in regulation tied the game, and Salem missed getting the win after stealing ball on the inbound pass but missing a layup as time expired, sending the game into double overtime where Waynesville prevailed winning Tuesday night, 40-36. The Salem JV falls to 1-1 on the year.

In Tuesday’s YWT, it was reported the Salem Lady Tiger Varsity Basketball team would play at 6:00 in Plato Thursday night followed by the JV game. Athletic Director Phillip Karr said the JV will play first before the varsity. We apologize for the error.

Robert Thomas set the tone for the St. Louis Blues early last night, scoring first against the Boston Bruins. Unfortunately for Blues fans the night turned into the Fraser Minten and Mark Kastelic show as they scored four times against the Blues who fell, 5-2. The Blues will head to Nashville tomorrow to face the Predators. You can listen to this game on KSMO Radio following the Mizzou Basketball game.
