The Salem Football Tigers continue to struggle holding on to the football as they fumbled five times Friday night at Ava, and the Ava Bears took advantage of the mistakes to score four touchdowns off the fumbles to beat the Tigers, 42-14. Quarterback Aiden Lane of Ava threw for three touchdowns and ran for another to lead the Bears to the win improving their overall record to 2-3. Sylis Dubois rushed for 163 yards and the two Salem touchdowns as the Tigers fall to 1-4 on the year. Salem is 0-3 in the SCA Conference, while Ava improves to 1-2 in conference play. Salem will host Willow Springs this Friday night.

The Salem JV Football Tigers will be at Ava for a game tonight starting at 6:00. Salem is 1-1 on the year. 

The Salem JV Lady Volleyball Tigers participated in the Licking JV Volleyball Tournament Saturday. Salem beat Licking in the first match, 25-16 and 25-11; then defeated Ava, 25-12 and 25-9. In the third match of the day, the Lady Tigers lost to Sullivan, 26-28 and 23-25.  All three Lady Volleyball Tiger teams will be at St. Clair today starting with the freshman match at 4:45 followed by the JV match around 5:45. The varsity match will begin around 6:45 at St. Clair. The varsity enters play tonight with a 6-13-1 record.

The Missouri Football Tigers start the season with a 5-0 record as they dominated UMass Saturday enroute to a 42-6 win at Faurot Field. Missouri Quarterback Beau Pribula set a new school record by completing 21 consecutive passes as he finished 26 0f 29 for 241 yards and a touchdown. Ahmad Hardy had 24 carries for 130 yards and three touchdowns. Missouri has a bye week and will next face Alabama on October 11th.

The St. Louis Blues fall to 0-3 in the preseason as they lost to Chicago Saturday night, 4-2. Brayden Schenn and Dalibor Dvorski scored for the Blues who had a 2-0 lead after two periods but couldn’t hold on. The Blues play against the Dallas Stars Tuesday night.

The St. Louis Cardinals finished their season in Chicago over the weekend being swept by the Cubs, 12-1 on Friday, 7-3 on Saturday, and shutout yesterday, 2-0. St. Louis finishes with a 78-84 record.
The Kansas City Royals ended their season on a high note taking a three game series against the Athletics two games to one. Their final game was a solid 9-2 victory. With the series win the Royals finish the season with a winning record, 82-80.

The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Baltimore Ravens yesterday 37-20. Patrick Mahomes threw 25 of 37 and 4 touchdowns becoming the youngest NFL QB to throw for 250 touchdowns.
