The Salem Lady Varsity Volleyball Tigers fell to the defending Class 3 State Champion Potosi Lady Trojans Tuesday night at the SHS Gym in three straight sets: 16-25.15-25 & 16-25. During the contest, the Lady Trojans recognized Eden Robart who recorded her 1,000 high school career kill and she is only a junior. The Lady Volleyball Tigers will open their SCA Conference schedule against Ava Thursday night at the SHS gym. Play will start with a freshman contest starting at 5:00, followed by the JV match around 6:00. The varsity contest will begin near 7:00 and it can be heard on KSMO Radio (AM 1340 and FM 95.7) as well as be video streamed on KSMO Media (ksmoradio.com, KSMO Stream Facebook Page and the KSMO YouTube Page). Salem enters that match with a 4-8 record.

The Salem Lady JV Volleyball Tigers came back from an 18-23 deficit in the second set to beat the JV Potosi Lady Trojans, 26-24 and take the match after winning the first set by a 25-13 score. The JV Lady Tigers play Thursday night against Ava.

The Salem JV Football team lost to Houston Monday, 22-0 and fall to 1-1 on the year. According to Salem Athletic Director Phillip Karr, there will NOT be a JV football game on Monday against Thayer.

The Salem Cross Country Team will participate in the Steelville Invitation Thursday afternoon.

Thomas Saggese had a pair of hits, two RBIs, and a home run to help the Cardinals shut out the Cincinnati Reds, 3-0. With the series tied up at one the winner of game three will take the series 2-1. The Kansas City Royals’ record drops to a sub .500 after losing to the Seattle Mariners last night, 12-5. They’ll try to tie up the series tonight at 6:40. After the Seattle Mariners the Royals will host the Toronto Blue Jays to finish out their home games during the 2025 regular season.
