Sylis Dubois scored on a 69-yard 1st quarter pass from Quarterback Hayden Ragsdale and ran 46-yards for a 2nd quarter touchdown as the Salem Football Tigers earned their first win of the year, 26-8 over the Linn Wildcats. Dubois finished with 76-yards rushing in the game. Cason Malone rushed the ball eight times for 29-yards scoring a touchdown and a two-point conversion, while Alton May had 35-yards rushing on four carries and a touchdown. Salem evens their record at 1-1 and they will be at Houston for their first SCA Conference game Friday night starting at 7:00.
The Salem JV Football Tigers, coming off a 20-14 win over St. James last week, will be at Linn to face the JV Wildcats starting at 5:30 tonight.
The Salem Lady Volleyball Tigers fell to Sullivan last Thursday in three straight games, 25-29 ,25-12 and 25-13. The Lady Tigers fall to 1-1 on the year and they will be at Eminence Tuesday to face the Lady Red Wings beginning at 5:30 with the JV contest followed by the varsity match.
After falling behind, 21-6 in the 1st quarter, Mizzou outscored Kansas the rest of the way, 36-10, and beat the Jayhawks Saturday afternoon at Faurot Field, 42-31. Beau Pribula went 30-39 for 334 passing yards with three touchdowns to lead the air game. Mizzou had two 100 plus yard rushers in the same game for the first time since 2017. Jamal Roberts ran for 143 yards on 13 carries with a touchdown while Ahmad Hardy rushed the ball 25 times for 112 yards and a touchdown. The Tigers will host the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns 3:00 Saturday afternoon.
The Kansas City Chiefs travelled south of the equator to play the Los Angeles Chargers in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Friday. In a close game throughout the Chiefs couldn’t keep pace and fell, 27-21. Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce accounted for both Chiefs’ touchdowns during the game and Harrison Butker hit three field goals but missed an extra point. The Chiefs will host the Eagles next Sunday afternoon with kickoff scheduled at 3:25.
The St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants finished a three game series over the weekend. On Friday the Giants won 8-2 and the Cardinals responded with a walk-off 3-2 victory on Saturday. With the series tied yesterday, the Cardinals got on the board first and scored all four of their runs in the fifth inning. The Giants attempted to rally back in the sixth but fell short scoring three runs. At the end of nine the score remained 4-3 and the Cards took the series, 2-1. The Kansas City Royals attempted the sweep over the Minnesota Twins this weekend. First on Friday the Royals won a close game 2-1, then had a 11-2 blowout Saturday. The Twins fought back yesterday and avoided being swept, 5-1. The Royals will travel to Cleveland to play the Guardians this evening with first pitch at 5:40.
