Last night the St. Louis Cardinals dug themselves into a hole early against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Pirates brought in eight runs in just the first three innings before Nolan Gorman hit a two-run home run getting the Cards on the board. The Cardinals shutout the Pirates for the remainder of the game, but could only manage one more run on the night. The Cardinals dropped the game, 8-3. The Kansas City Royals came out flat yet again playing the Chicago White Sox. Going into the top of the eighth Kansas City was on the verge of getting shut out for the second straight game. Trailing 4-0, Maikel Garcia hit a line drive into right field allowing Jonathan India and Adam Frazier to cross home plate. Then in the top of the ninth Michael Massey singled into right field bringing Mike Yastrzemski home, tying up the game at four. Kyle Isbel completed the comeback for the Royals when he singled a line drive into center field batting in the finial run of the night and securing the Royals a 5-4 come from behind victory. They’ll wrap up the series tonight with first pitch at 6:40.
