The St. Louis Cardinals and Atlanta Braves played a three game series that began this past Friday. In game one the Braves got out to a three run lead before Alec Burleson doubled, bringing in Brendan Donovan. Later in the third the Braves increased their lead to four. The Cardinals would respond in the bottom of the inning scoring three runs, however six scoreless innings later the Cardinals fell 6-5. On Saturday, the Braves hit a pair of home runs in each of the first two innings to put the pressure on the Cardinals early. Nolan Gorman homered in the second to tie the game. In the bottom of the sixth Yohel Pozo homered to give the Cards their first lead of the afternoon. Atlanta would battle back in the eighth, scoring three runs and defeating the Cards 7-6. Yesterday afternoon a pair of lengthy rain delays totaling four hours and five minutes pushed the afternoon game well into the evening. For the Cardinals it was worth the wait as they came from behind to avoid the sweep and win, 5-4.

The Kansas City Royals are looking forward to the MLB All Star Break after losing a three game series to the Mets, 2-1. This was their first series loss in July and they enter the All Star Break with a 47-50 record.
