The Missouri Tigers fell to Florida on Friday by a score of 95-81. Tamar Bates led the Tigers in scoring with 16 points, as three other Tigers scored double digits. While the Tigers exited the SEC Tournament they’ve qualified for the NCAA Tournament being seeded 6th overall. They will play the 11th seeded Drake Bulldogs on Thursday, March 20th at 6:35 in the evening.
The St. Louis Blues faced off against Minnesota Saturday evening and Jordan Kyrou had himself a day with three shots on goal for three goals, leading the Blues to a 5-1 victory over the Wild. On Sunday the Blues returned home to play the Anaheim Ducks. The game was delayed due to travel complications, per the St. Louis Blues website. After an opening ceremony to celebrate Brayden Schenn’s 1,000th game, it would take him just seconds to get the Blues on the board early, followed by a Pavel Buchnevich tip-in shot 49 seconds later. In the second Holloway, Faksa, and Joseph each tacked on a goal giving the Blues a three point advantage going into the second intermission. In the third Jake Neighbours and Oskar Sundqvist each added a goal to the stat sheet as the Blues easily defeated the Anaheim Ducks 7-2.
The St. Louis Cardinals played the New York Mets Friday afternoon and tied, 3-3. On Saturday they defeated the Blue Jays 9-5, in a game the Cards never trailed in. The following afternoon on Sunday they were back on the diamond against the Marlins falling, 11-5. The Cardinals will continue their spring training schedule today against the Washington Nationals at 12:05.
The St. Louis Cardinals announced they have signed free-agent right-handed pitcher Phil Maton to a one-year contract for the 2025 season. Maton closed out the 2024 season as a member of the New York Mets after coming over in a trade from Tampa Bay on July 9. He went 3-3 with a 3.66 ERA in a combined 71 games with the Mets and Rays last season and appeared in six postseason games during New York’s advance to the National League Championship Series.
The Kansas City Royals played the Los Angeles Angels Friday afternoon and with a run in the top of the eight, defeated the Angels, 9-8. On Saturday they faced the Cleveland Guardians and Cincinnati Reds in a double header. They lost their game against the Guardians, 7-5 but bounced back to defeat the Reds, 13-7. Yesterday they had no problem dispatching the Colorado Rockies, 10-2. This afternoon they’ll play the Diamondbacks at 3:05.
With the focal point of Free Agency in the NFL passed the Kansas City Chiefs have signed or resigned 12 players. Most notably Linebacker Nick Bolton resigned to a three year $45 million dollar contract. Trey Smith was unable to come to terms on a long term contract but signed a non-exclusive franchise tag that will see the guard get paid $23.4 million for the 2025 season, and JuJu Smith-Schuster, Kareem Hunt, and Gardner Minshew all signing one year deals.
