The City of Salem Parks and Recreation Department is offering Flag Football and Cheerleading for boys and girls in the 1st to 6th grades. The cost for each participant is $25 for football that includes a shirt, and $35 for cheerleading where they get a shirt and poms. Registration ends Sunday. Lars Nootbaar’s single in the bottom of the 10th inning gave the St. Louis Cardinals a 3-2 win over Detroit and a split of their two-game series. Paul Goldschmidt hit two homers for the Red Birds for their other runs. T.J. McFarland got the win pitching the 10th inning. St. Louis will begin a four-game series at Pittsburgh tonight starting at 5:10 on KSMO Radio.

Witt Merrifield hit a grand slam and Salvador Perez also homered, but the Houston Astros tied the game in the 8th inning and won it in the tenth on and RBI groundout, 6-5. Houston won the three-game series, two games to one, but Kansas City won the season series, four games to three. The Royals will be in Seattle to start a four-game series with the Mariners tonight.
